LES COMPARATIFS
Le comparatif sert à comparer 2 éléments. (personnes, objets, groupes...) Il y a des comparatifs de supériorité,
d’infériorité ou d’égalité.
The shirt is more colourful than the T-shirt. The T-shirt is cheaper than the shirt. The
shirt is as casual as the T-shirt but the T-shirt is less trendy than the shirt.
[La chemise est plus colorée que le T-shirt. Le T-shirt est meilleur marché que la chemise.
Le T-shirt est aussi décontracté que la chemise mais il est moins tendance que la chemise.]
REMEMBER : les comparatifs de supériorité ont 2 constructions possibles en fonction de l’adjectif utilisé !
L’adjectif est court : composé d’une seule syllabe ou de 2 terminé par : Y / ER / OW/ LE.
L’adjectif est long : composé de 2 syllabes ou plus.

MODIFICATIONS ORTHOGRAPHIQUES :
Les adjectifs terminés par « consonne voyelle consonne » doublent la consonne finale : big = bigger
Les adjectifs terminés par « Y » font : funny = funnier
Les adjectifs terminés par « E » font : large = larger
