(Role play: “Maurice Quinquin goes to the doctor”)
SET UP: Maurice Quinquin (the Mayor), 100 years old, slightly deaf, goes
to the doctor (Lee Yun) because of his many aches. Maurice‛s hearing aid is
broken and he finds it hard to hear what the doctor is saying.
SCÈNE 2/ 1ère partie
(Hello Mayor, where do you hurt?)

MAURICE: Oui, ça va mal! Très très mal!
Doctor Yun speaks louder and moves closer towards Maurice.
LEE: Où avez-vous mal? Aux genoux?
SA
(Where are you hurting? The knees?)
MAURICE: Comment ça! Je suis fou!
(What do you mean! I am mad!)
Doctor Yun is starting to get annoyed.
LEE: Non pas fou! Aux genoux, genouuuux!
(No not mad! The knees, knees!!!)
MAURICE: Oh oui! J‛ai mal au cou.
(Oh yes! I have an achy neck)

SCÈNE 2/ 2ème partie
LEE: Bonjour monsieur le Maire, où avez-vous mal?
(Yes, I am not good! Not good at all)
LEE YUN
Le docteur
Doctor Yun tries to keep calm. He stands behind Maurice to
examine his neck.
LEE: Mmmh, au cou! Tournez la tête à gauche et à droite.
(Mmmh, the neck! Turn your head to the left and to the right)
Maurice starts hopping from left to right.
LEE: Non, pas les jambes, la tête, la tête!
(No, not the legs, the head, the head!)
MAURICE: Comment ça! Je suis bête!
(What do you mean! I am stupid!)
Doctor Yun can‛t bear it any longer. He forces Maurice out.
LEE: Mangez des carottes monsieur le Maire, c‛est bon
pour la santé. Au revoir!
(Eat some carrots Mayor, it‛s good for your health. Goodbye!)
MAURICE: Je suis fou! Je suis bête! Quel culot!
(I am mad! I am stupid! How dare you!)
