A l’issue d’un Rallye International du Valais rondement mené, Craig Breen
et Scott Martin enlèvent leur quatrième victoire européenne cette année !
L’équipage de la Peugeot Rally Academy devance finalement Kajetan
Kajetanowicz, le champion FIA ERC 2015, au nombre d’épreuves
remportées. Avec quatre succès cette saison acquis sur trois surfaces
différentes, Craig Breen a montré toutes ses qualités, bien aidé par une
208 T16 fiable et rapide. Ce week-end, la 208 T16 a triomphé sur tous les
tableaux puisque Yoann Bonato a offert à la lionne sa première victoire en
Championnat de France des Rallyes, la première d’une ‘R5’, et Christian
Jensen s’est imposé au Danemark à son volant.
Même si le soleil accompagnait les concurrents tout au long du week-end, les
routes suisses n’en restaient pas moins humides et particulièrement
glissantes.
Auteur d’un départ prudent, Craig Breen prenait pourtant la tête de l’épreuve
dès les premiers kilomètres de course. Egalement engagé sur une 208 T16,
Bryan Bouffier partait à la faute dans la première spéciale du jour et devait
rendre son carnet.
Débarrassés d’un adversaire de poids, Craig et Scott réalisaient une superbe
performance en accentuant ensuite leur avance sur Olivier Burri. Non content
d’évoluer à domicile, le pilote suisse disposait d’une DS 3 RRC, plus puissante
que la 208 T16 de l’Irlandais !
Heureux de pouvoir s’exprimer sans aucune pression, Craig Breen profitait de
ces conditions pour poursuivre son cavalier seul lors de la deuxième étape en
alignant les meilleurs temps. Ainsi, à la veille de la dernière journée de
course, l’écart avec Olivier Burri frôlait la minute.
Le pilote de la Peugeot Rally Academy se contentait de gérer son avance en
fin d’épreuve pour mener sa 208T16 sur la plus haute marche du podium.
Pleinement satisfait par ce succès, Craig déclarait : « C’est une victoire très
émouvante pour moi. L’équipe a continué de miser sur moi, et je les en
remercie. Je viens de passer deux merveilleuses années. Sur l’ensemble de la
saison, nous aurions pu obtenir de meilleurs résultats même si nous avons été
rapides sur tous les terrains ! »
Emil Bergkvist, le champion d’Europe Junior 2015 bénéficiait lui aussi d’une
208 T16 en guise de récompense de son titre acquis cette année. En
progression constante, le Suédois décrochait une superbe quatrième place
pour sa première course au volant d’une quatre roues motrices.
Pour la Peugeot Rally Academy, le prochain rendez-vous de la saison est fixé
au Rallye du Var, ultime manche du Championnat de France des Rallyes. A
cette occasion, Charles Martin prendra le volant de la 208 T16 pour clôturer
son programme officiel. Ainsi, les concurrents de la 208 Rally Cup qui
disputeront la dernière manche de la saison, évolueront sous les yeux du
vainqueur 2014.

FIA ERC / PEUGEOT RALLY ACADEMY : Finir en beauté !
Pour le dernier rallye de la saison, l’objectif est clair pour Craig Breen et
toute l’équipe de la Peugeot Rally Academy, à savoir la victoire ! Preuve
une nouvelle fois de son succès, 5 exemplaires de la 208T16 seront au départ de l’épreuve helvétique.
Avec 17 spéciales au programme et plus de 230 kilomètres chronométrés, le
Rallye International du Valais conclut une saison européenne riche en émotions pour Craig Breen et Scott Martin.
Actuellement deuxième au classement général, l’équipage N°1 de la Peugeot
Rally Academy peut se féliciter d’avoir triomphé sur les 3 surfaces proposées
par le Championnat d’Europe des Rallyes. Victorieux sur la neige en Lettonie,
sur l’asphalte en Irlande et sur la terre aux Açores, Craig et Scott ont également trusté les avant postes sur toutes les autres épreuves.
C’est donc avec l’envie de bien terminer cette saison européenne que Craig
Breen aborde ce dernier rendez-vous : « Après cette saison faite de hauts et de
bas, j’espère finir la saison avec style en apportant un nouveau succès à la
208T16 qui a été très performante cette saison encore ! Ce serait notre quatrième victoire et cela récompenserait le travail de toute l’équipe. »
La 208T16 très bien représentée en Suisse…
4 autres 208T16 seront au départ avec Bryan Bouffier (ROMO Motorsport),
Bruno Magalhães (Delta Rally), Jonathan Hirschi (HRT Rally Team) et Emil
Bergkvist.
Champion de France des Rallyes en 2010 et vainqueur du Monte-Carlo en
2011 aux commandes d’une Peugeot 207 S2000 officielle, Bryan Bouffier sera
à coup sur un candidat à la victoire. Pilotes habituels de la 208T16 en ERC,
Bruno Magalhães qui est soutenu par Peugeot Portugal, et Jonathan Hirschi,
pourront eux aussi jouer les premiers rôles. Enfin, Emil Bergkvist le nouveau
Champion d’Europe Junior pendra pour la première fois les commandes d’une
R5 au sein de la structure Saintéloc Racing, récompense de son titre acquis
cette année.

208T16 !

A surefooted performance in Switzerland saw Craig Breen and Scott Martin
collect their fourth European Rally Championship victory of the season.
The Peugeot Rally Academy pair finally tallied more wins this year than
the 2015 FIA ERC champion Kajetan Kajetanowicz. Breen’s winning record
includes success on three different types of surface which showcases not
only the Irishman’s all-round skills but also the speed and reliability of his
208 T16. This week-end, the 208T16 picked up a number of other top
results. Yoann Bonato earned the car’s first French title, and the first for
an R5 car. Christian Jensen took the top prize in Denmark.
The 2015 Rallye International du Valais was sunny from start to finish but the
stages were still damp and treacherously slippery.
Despite a cautious start, Craig Breen emerged in front early on, while Bryan
Bouffier – who was also driving a 208 T16 – was eliminated by a mistake on
the opening stage.
Freed from the threat of the Frenchman, Craig and Scott produced a superb
run to pull gradually clear of Swiss expert Olivier Burri who was driving a DS 3
RRC, a more powerful car than the Irishman’s 208 T16.
Craig Breen was relieved to be able to compete without any extra pressure on
his shoulders and his domination continued with a sequence of fastest times
on the second day, extending his cushion over Burri to almost a minute.
The Peugeot Rally Academy driver was then able to control from in front on
the last day to put his 208T16 on the top step of the podium. He was
particularly pleased with his performance after the finish: “I am very moved
by today’s win. The team has always backed me and I would like to thank
them for that. The last two years have been fantastic. This season, we could
have obtained more top results and we were fast on all the different types of
surface visited by the championship.”
The 2015 Junior ERC champion Emil Bergkvist also took part in the Swiss
round as a prize for winning the title. The Swedish youngster made solid
progress throughout and ended up celebrating his first ever outing in a fourwheel drive car with fourth place.
The next outing for the Peugeot Rally Academy will be the Rallye du Var,
penultimate round of the 2015 French Rally Championship. It will be the last
event of Charles Martin’s official programme in the 208 T16 and will give this
year’s 208 Rally Cup competitors a chance to compete directly with the
competition’s 2014 winner.

FIA ERC / PEUGEOT RALLY ACADEMY: Looking to end the year in style!
For the final clash of the 2015 FIA European Rally Championship, Craig
Breen and everyone at the Peugeot Rally Academy have their sights set on
outright victory in Switzerland. As further evidence of the model’s success,
no fewer than five 208T16s figure on the entry list for this week’s Rallye
International du Valais.
The Swiss event proposes a menu of 17 stages totalling 230 kilometres to
round off this year’s European campaign which has been an emotional ride
for Craig Breen and his co-driver Scott Martin.
The crew of the Peugeot Rally Academy’s number one car is currently second
in the provisional ERC standings after claiming victories on every one the
three types of surface featured on the championship’s calendar. Craig and
Scott took the top prize on snow in Latvia, came first on the asphalt lanes of
the Circuit of Ireland, then claimed the same result on the loose in the Azores,
as well as a long list of top finishes on the year’s other events.
Craig Breen is keen to wrap up the 2015 European Rally Championship in style
in Switzerland: “It’s been something of a seesaw season but I am hoping to
round off the year in style by taking another victory in the 208T16 which has
been very competitive again in 2015. A fourth win would be a great way to
reward all the work the team has put in.”

In addition to Craig Breen’s car, four other 208T16s are scheduled to start the
Rallye International du Valais. They will be in the hands of Bryan Bouffier
(ROMO Motorsport), Bruno Magalhães (Delta Rally), Jonathan Hirschi (HRT
Rally Team) and Emil Bergkvist.
Bryan Bouffier won the 2010 French Rally Championship and the 2011 Rallye
Monte-Carlo in a factory Peugeot 207 S2000 and is clearly a potential winner
this weekend. Peugeot Portugal-backed Bruno Magalhães and Jonathan Hirschi are two other 208T16 campaigners in the ERC and are quite likely to play
leading roles, while this year’s Junior European Champion Emil Bergkvist will
be making his debut in an R5 class. His car will be tended by Saintéloc Racing
as a reward for his junior title.
