Weekly Marriage Tip

An English Speaking Catholic Community based in the St. Malo Catholic Church for the area from 52 to 201
Peter and Jeremiah, in today’s
readings, feel misled, steered in the wrong
direction. They’ve ended up some place
they had no intention of going.
Peter had just got the right answer. In
last Sunday’s gospel, Jesus asked: « Who do
you say that I am? » Peter answered, « the
Christ, the Son of the Living God, » and was
praised. But now: « Get behind me, Satan! »
His idea of what it means to be the Christ
was not the same as God’s.
Jeremiah complains that he’s been
«enticed.» He’s been chosen to be a
prophet, to proclaim God’s word… but he’s
wishing that privilege had gone to someone
else. All he gets to talk about is «violence
and destruction.» He can’t stop, though:
God’s word burns within him.
What happened to Jeremiah and Peter
happens to all of us, albeit less dramatically.
To be a Christian, to be on the journey of
discipleship, is to have our life changed, to
be led in unexpected ways. Sometimes, it’s
in ways we’d rather not go: taking up our
cross. However we encounter God, it means
change: in a vision, or through Scripture; in
a favourite hymn or a sunset; in the words of
a friend.
We are moved along the
unpredictable path of discipleship through
all of our encounters with God. In fact, all
encounters with God should come with a
warning label: «will lead to conversion.»

Les jeunes et les parents commencent

pour la rentrée des élèves à l’école.
C’est un temps très occupé et très actif.
Alors la Paroisse aimerait faire un rappel
à tous les élèves du secondaire qui recevront
une lettre qui concerne le cours accrédité de
catéchèse, qu’ils doivent s’inscrire
avant le 9 septembre 2011.

Présentation bilingue du curriculum archidiocésain pour la préparation au mariage
le mardi 20 septembre 2011 à 19h30.
À la demande de Mgr Albert LeGatt, et avec l’apport du clergé et des laïcs de l’archidiocèse,
un curriculum pour la préparation au mariage dans l’archidiocèse de Saint-Boniface
a été crée afin de voir à une vision commune dans la préparation au sacrement.
Au mois de septembre, une réunion aura lieu, réunissant tous les prêtres, les diacres, les représentant.e.s de
toutes les équipes de préparation au mariage dans l’archidiocèse de Saint-Boniface,
ainsi que tous ceux et celles qui s’intéressent à être impliqué.e.s dans la préparation du mariage.
Au cours de la réunion, les grandes lignes du document seront présentées
et une occasion sera donnée pour les questions et les commentaires.
Tous et toutes sont donc invité.e.s à assister à cette réunion,
qui aura lieu le mardi 20 septembre 2011 de 19h30 à 21h30
dans la salle C du Centre de pastorale (622, avenue Taché.)
La réunion se déroulera de façon bilingue.

Famine : Développement et Paix acheminera de l’aide à l’Afrique
On estime que la pire sécheresse à frapper la Corne de l’Afrique au cours des 60 dernières années expose
actuellement 10 millions de personnes à de graves pénuries alimentaires et à la famine.
Le réseau Caritas, dont fait partie l’organisme des évêques canadiens, fait des préparatifs en vue de
secourir les populations qui en ont le plus besoin. Développement et Paix accepte donc des dons qui
permettront d’acheminer des secours d’urgence dans la région.
Si vous voulez faire un don monétaire, vous pouvez faire un chèque directement à
Développement et Paix et la Paroisse acheminera votre don à Développement et Paix. MERCI !!!

Baptism or a Profession of faith (if they have already been baptized in another religion).

Bilingual Presentation of Archdiocesan Marriage Preparation Curriculum
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.
At Archbishop Albert LeGatt’s request, and with the input of the clergy and laity of the Archdiocese,
a Curriculum for Marriage Preparation in the Archdiocese of St. Boniface has been created to see to a common vision
in the preparation for the Sacrament. In September, a meeting convening all priests, deacons,
representatives from all Marriage Preparation Teams in the Archdiocese of St. Boniface,
as well as all those interested in being involved in Marriage Preparation
will be held during which the Curriculum will be presented
and an opportunity for questions and comments will be given.
All are thus invited to attend this upcoming meeting, which will take place on
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
in Hall C of the St. Boniface Pastoral Centre (622 Taché Ave.)
The meeting will be conducted bilingually.
