The regular meeting for the Council of the
Village of Rexton was held in the Council
Chambers on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at
7:00 p.m.

PRESENT: The Mayor, David L. Hanson;
Councillors Albert Corcoran, William Flanagan,
Lisa Warman and Elaine Warren; Office
Manager, Dianne Robertson; Bilingual
Administrative Assistant, Nathalie Elward; Public
Works Director, Brent Goodwin and General
Manager, Barry Glencross.

CALL TO ORDER: The Mayor, David L. Hanson
called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA: It was moved by
Albert Corcoran and seconded by Lisa Warman
that the agenda be approved. Motion carried.

que l’ordre du jour soit accepté. Proposition

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: It was moved by
Elaine Warren and seconded by William
Flanagan that the February 10th minutes be
approved with noted corrections. Motion
carried.

GUESTS: Snowmobile Club Members attended
the meeting to discuss Council’s concerns of
snowmobilers accessing unauthorized trails. It
was agreed to forward any further complaints to
the Snowmobile Trail Patrol Officers.
INVITÉS: Les membres du club de motoneige
ont assisté à la réunion pour discuter les
préoccupations du Conseil de motoneigistes
qui utilisent les sentiers non autorisés. Il fut

correspondence.

5. BLMS Fundraising Committee: The school
coordinator is searching for interested individual
to form a fundraising committee to build a High
Ropes Challenge Course. Before getting
involved, Council suggested gathering more
information.

7. NB Cultural Coast –Things to Do Guide: It was
moved by William Flanagan and seconded by
Elaine Warren that, as previous years, we
resume membership and participation in the
Things to Do Guide.

Elaine Warren appuie, comme les années

The Fire Chief, Brent Goodwin, reviewed his
report with Council. The Fire Department has
accepted a new volunteer member, Roger
Robichaud, subject to the one year probation
period policy.

BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

a) Municipal (Galloway) Water Search Progress:
The well testing results were reviewed.
Everything appears to be good and suggests
moving forward with the second level of testing.
The cost estimate for the next phase of the
Galloway well, which is the 72 hours volume
testing, is approximately $70,000.

moved by Lisa Warman and seconded by
William Flanagan that the third and final reading
of By-Law 15-01, relating to establishing control
of dogs in the Village of Rexton, be adopted.
Motion carried.

that the transfer of land has been finalized.

There is nothing new to report at this time.

g) Indian Island Fire Contract: A follow-up letter
regarding the 2014-2015 Fire Protection
Services Contract was sent to the Chief of Indian
Island. Also, Mayor Hanson spoke with different
persons of interest related to this case.

reviewed the proposal.

The Mayor reviewed his report with Council.

Police: The RCMP is again requesting the
Community Safety Priority Evaluation Sheet.
Council agreed to keep last year’s evaluation
sheet the same for 2015 as it matches our
community’s safety priorities.
Police: La GRC demande encore une fois le
formulaire d’évaluation des priorités de
sécurité communautaire. Le conseil a décidé
que le formulaire d’évaluation de l’an
dernier, correspondant aux priorités de
sécurité de notre communauté pour 2015,
demeure le même.
Homecoming: Both Councillors Elaine Warren
and Lisa Warman volunteered to organize the
2015 activities.

d’organiser les activités pour 2015.
Regional Service Commission: Council reviewed
the current policing costs for Rexton and the
surrounding areas. It was agreed that Mayor
Hanson inform the Finance Committee on the
policing cost share formula’s negative impact on
Rexton.
Commission de services régionaux: Le
Conseil a passé en revue les coûts actuels de
la police de Rexton et ses environs. Il a été
décidé que maire Hanson informe le comité
des finances l’impact négatif que la formule
de partage des coûts de la police a imposé

Finance:
Economic Development Plan: It was moved by
Albert Corcoran and seconded by Elaine Warren
to approve the development program
application in the sum of $2,390.00 to Marc and
Lorraine Carruthers for the new construction
built on Jardine Lane, Rexton. Motion carried.

conversation with the Department of
Transportation, a report and discussion was held
related to the hilltop crosswalk pedestrian
safety.

la discussion ont porté sur la sécurité au

NB Trails: It was reported that Rexton’s
International Day will be held on June 6, 2015.
