École Dorset School: Ce que j’ai fais pendant mes vacances/ What I Did on My Summer Vacation! Summer has wandered off into earlier sunsets. We look back and think, “Where did that sumer holiday go?” Traditionally school begins with that first question, “How was your summer and/or what did you do?” Here’s a glimpse into what our staff did during their summer holiday. Does it give you some ideas for your next summer? First of all from our principal Natalie Maurice…”Great memories were certainly made this summer! I had the chance to go to New York City with my twelve year old son, Connor (who is off to John Rennier High School this school year)! Just the two of us - what a treat. We walked and explored the city for three days. We saw the Statue of Liberty, Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, Central Park, Top of the Rock, "Cake Boss"Bakery, the new World Trade Center and more! We loved the pizza! What a noisy and busy city. It almost time for the new school year where I am sure will be a great one. I cannot wait to see all of the Dorset families on the first day of school and hear all about their summer memories!” Mrs. Szollosy who tecahes grade 5 and the iPad program wrote: “This summer, my family and 8 volunteers travelled to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to run Sparkes of Hope Summer Camp, a two week summer camp for impoverished Haitian students. We had loads of fun teaching the kids English, getting creative during craft activities, working with the iPads, playing on the beach, going down waterslides and laughing with the whole group. Thank you to all of those who donated to make camp possible!! For more information please visit Sparkes of Hope on Facebook. Sylviane
