Perolo launches new gas tank valves
French tank component manufacturer
Perolo SA launched a new range of valves
for liquefied gas tanks at the recent Transport and Logistics show in Munich.
The new range includes a 3in safety
relief valve, Machflo, and a 2in excess flow
valve/ball valve assembly called Speedflo.
The new 3in stainless steel Machflo
gas relief valve features a simple singlespring internal design, which, says Perolo,
improves flow rates by up to 10%. Its performance has been certified by the
Exadebit laboratory in Poitiers, France.
The simple design also allows for
quick disassembly and reassembly, which
speeds up and simplifies maintenance operations. Internal springs are interchangeable within minutes and the available
range of four springs provides four pressure settings from 13.8 to 34.4 bar.
The Machflo relief valve is optionally
available with a bursting disc.
Complementing the Machflo valve,
the Speedflo 2in excess flow valve/ball
valve assembly is suitable for both liquid
and gas phase and is pressure rated up to
40 bar. It is TPED-certified and available
with ACME couplings.
Perolo also launched two new compact tank bottom outlets called Twinco
and Twinflow at the Munich show. The
Twinco is a combination of Perolo’s
Neatco footvalve and a Tankfly butterfly
valve, both housed in a single cast body.
This gives tank container users and operators access to the benefits of Neatco
and Tankfly valve technology at a reduced
cost of ownership as the Twinco has less
components and shares common parts
with the existing products. The market is
already responding very positively to the
introduction of Twinco and production
programmes have been doubled for the
second half of 2007, Perolo says.
The Twinflow bottom outlet has the
same concept as the Twinco but combines
a Neatflo external spring footvalve with
the Tankfly butterfly valve instead of a
Neatco footvalve. A Halar-coated version
of the Twinflow is also available.
Other products released by Perolo in
Munich included a range of PN16 double sealing 3in and 2in ball valves that
complement its ATCO range and a 1.5in
relief valve that complements its YAKVX
range. The 1.5in YAKVX, which was
mainly developed in response to a strong
demand from the road tanker market, is
available in various pressure ranges from
1 to 4 bar and vacuum from -35 to -210
mbar. It conforms to ADR 6.8.
In a separate move, Perolo is implementing a major expansion of its service
and spare parts distribution network.
The expansion started with the opening of Perolo Distribution BvbA, a dedicated subsidiary in Belgium, to serve the
Belgian, Dutch and German markets. Operating since January 1, 2007, Perolo Distribution carries a comprehensive stock
of spare parts suitable for the maintenance
of Perolo valves and equipment fitted on
tank containers, road tankers and rail
tankers. The new company offers a dedicated support service to all repair depots
that operate in the North Sea ports, with
same day delivery of spares.
In addition, Perolo has signed an exclusive agreement with Gavan products
Pvt Ltd in Singapore that brings local distribution outlets for genuine Perolo spare
parts in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia,
New Zealand, Indonesia, Thailand,Vietnam and The Philippines.
All distribution outlets are served from
a fully comprehensive central stock located in Singapore.
The new Perolo Machflo gas relief valve
The new distribution channels complement those in Scandinavia, Israel, the
USA, Korea, France, China and Japan to
make any Perolo spare part readily available at short notice anywhere in the
world. ❏
Den Hartogh
cleans up in
Turkey
Den Hartogh, in cooperation with the
Alisan Group as its local partner, has
opened Turkey’s first cleaning station for
intermodal tank containers. The €3.7M
facility is located at Gebze on the Sea of
Marmara to the south of Istanbul.
Completed in eight months, the installation occupies an area of 13,000 m2
and incorporates the latest in tank cleaning technology to ensure compliance with
the strict environmental standards governing the operation of such cleaning stations in Europe.
The Den Hartogh/Alisan depot has
been given the seal of approval by the European Federation of Tank Cleaning Organisations (EFTCO), while the newly
formed Association of Chemical Carrier
Cleaners of Turkey (KTTD) has been welcomed as a full member of EFTCO. The
first president of KTTD is Damla Alisan, a
member of the Alisan Group’s board of
directors.
Alisan itself is active in domestic distribution and chemical transport activities in Turkey as well as customs clearance, bonded and non-bonded warehousing, insurance and construction services.
Alisan proposed the construction of a
joint tank cleaning station at Gebze to
Den Hartogh in 2004 and the project is
facilitating an extension of Den Hartogh’s
pan-European tank logistics activities into
Turkey much more quickly than originally planned.
Den Hartogh is hoping that the Turkish government will now introduce more
stringent environmental legislation governing the operation of cleaning stations
than is currently in place in order to encourage the use of its new facility. It is
possible to clean tanks at a number of road
haulage depots in Turkey but the controls governing waste water treatment are
not particularly rigorous compared to the
standards in place at facilities in Europe.
Den Hartogh now has five tank container cleaning stations in Europe and is
building a sixth in Poland which it expects to have in operation by the end of
2007. The Gebze depot is the only one
of the company’s chain of cleaning stations that is a joint venture operation. All
the others are fully owned. ❏
