Bienvenue and Welcome Notre Dame School French and Library OCTOBER 2016 LIBRARY All grades may borrow books at least once a week. The regular borrowing day for Kindergarten to grade 4 is Thursday. Grades 5 to 7 may borrow at any lunch recess from Tuesday to Thursday. Kindergarten and grade one classes may borrow one book at a time. Classes from grade 2 to 7 may borrow up to two books at any one time. Kindergarten - A variety of stories will be read to broaden students interests. This will include bible stories, French stories and books about the fall season. Activities will include looking for a book to borrow, related colouring sheets and working with puzzles. Grades 1 and 2 - These classes will review book parts and alphabetical order. Grade 3 - The students will review how fiction books are arranged. Grade 4 - This class will be introduced to the Dewey Decimal system of classification. FRENCH Kindergarten will explore the French language through songs, rhymes, games and gestures. We are practicing our class entry song “Bonjour”. A new song “Tourne Mon Moulin” will be taught with actions. The coulours “jaune” and “rouge” have been introduced. We will continue to practice identifying them and work on learning “bleu” and “vert” as well as counting to four. Grade one will be working on learning simple greetings, asking and answering about names, asking how someone is feeling, the date and the weather, singing O Canada. They will begin the AIM Program using the story of “La Poule Maboule”. We will be learning new vocabulary with actions and a song. This includes the “Bonjour song” and vocabulary related to the story. Grade 2 will review simple greetings, asking and answering about names, asking how someone is feeling, the date and the weather, and singing O Canada. The class will also review the “Bonjour song” and vocabulary related to the story of “La Poule Maboule”. This month the grade 2 class will be introduced to the Hail Mary prayer. Grades 3 - 7 will continue to review simple greetings, asking and answering about names, asking how someone is feeling, the date, time and the weather, singing O Canada and the Hail Mary Prayer. Grade 3 will continue to practice their new song “La Classe Commence” and the new vocabulary related to the story “Les Trois Petits Cochons” from the Aim program. Grade 4 will continue to review the song “La Classe Commence” and the vocabulary related to the story “Les Trois Petits Cochons” from the Aim program. Grade 5 will continue to review the song “La Classe Commence” and the new vocabulary related to the story “Le Garçon Qui Joue Des Tours” from the Aim program. Grade 6 & 7 will continue to review the song “La Classe Commence” and the vocabulary related to the story “Le Garçon Qui Joue Des Tours” from the Aim program.
