Madame, Monsieur,
1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The SANICOMPACT® is a combination of a vitreous china
toilet with a built in flushing, macerating and pump system.
The SANICOMPACT® is comprised of two major
components: the china toilet body and the macerating/pump
unit in the base of the toilet.
1a NORMAL OPERATING CYCLE
By activating an air switch on top of the toilet, an electronic
circuit and solenoid are activated in order to fill and wash
the sides of the bowl. The motor is started and the waste
and paper is sucked into the unit where it is macerated and
pumped away. The motor stops after approximately 15
seconds and the timer program refills the bowl with fresh
water.
The SANICOMPACT® is a very efficient device, it uses
approximately 4 liters (1.06 gallons) of water per flush.
2 INSTALLATION
2a LOCATION
Install the SANICOMPACT® at a convenient location. When
installing, leave a 15mm (1/2-inch) space between the rear
of the unit and the wall for installation of the discharge pipe.
DISCHARGE PIPE INSTALLATION
At the rear of the SANICOMPACT® is a rubber hose of
11/4-inch in diameter. Enclosed with the SANICOMPACT®
is a rubber elbow and a flapper style checkvalve assembly.
Before inserting the checkvalve into the rubber hose, know
in which direction you want to run the discharge installation.
When facing the toilet from the front, you may want to run
the discharge pipe to either the right hand side or to the left
hand side of the SANICOMPACT®. It is very important, that
the open side of the checkvalve flapper, faces the direction
of the discharge pipe.
Insert flapper assembly into the pipe and push discharge
elbow over it. Tighten the assembly with the provided gear
clamp.
2b
1. PVC: 1-inch solvent welded pipe. Schedule 20: The
flared end of a 1-inch coupling (or bend) fits exactly
inside the rubber elbow. Schedule 40: This pipe has a
thicker wall thickness and fits therefore inside the
discharge elbow. Use bends rather than elbows. Use
two 45° elbows back-to-back to make up a 90° elbow.
2 Copper: 1-inch copper.
3. The flared end of a 1-inch coupling (or bend) fits exactly
inside the rubber elbow. Use bends rather than elbows.
4. CPVC: 1-inch solvent weld pipe.
5. The flared end of a 1-inch coupling (or bend) fits exactly
inside the rubber elbow. Use bends rather than elbows.
Use two 45° elbows back-to-back to make up a 90°
elbow.
If you make the discharge installation with pipe smaller than
11/4-inch, start the installation by inserting a coupling or an
elbow into the discharge elbow and clamp down with a gear
clamp. From there use a short piece of pipe before you
change directions, (up, down, rear.)
Do not yet connect the short piece of pipe to the discharge
installation. If your installation requires a vertical discharge
(and when made with 1-inch material), you may want to
install a Full-Flow Ball Valve for servicing purposes and
finish your discharge pipe installation.
The connection to the soil-stack should be made with an
approved fitting TY fitting and should be in accordance with
your local plumbing code. (Using a SADDLE CLIP may not
be permitted in your area.)
Because of the incorporated non-return valve, the pipe
work can be installed up to 3m (9 feet) in height. (It is
unadvisable to add an additional check valve.) It is possible
to install the discharge pipe in either upwards or
downwards direction. When discharging downwards it is
necessary to run the discharge pipe horizontally for a
distance of 30cm (12-inches) before changing directions.
Normally, an anti-siphon valve is not necessary because
the SANICOMPACT® automatically stops siphoning action.
In some cases however, a long running and sharply
downward discharge pipe may necessitate the installation
of an anti-siphon valve, (vacuum breaker).
2c HAND BASIN DISCHARGE PIPE WORK INSTALLATION
To install the discharge hose, lay the SANICOMPACT® on its
side. Cut the nipple at the base of the motor unit. Debur the cut
and connect the flexible input pipe that allows the hand basin
to be connected. Handbasin must be located on the same floor
than the macerating system.
2d WATER SUPPLY CONNECTION
For the best possible flushing action, the SANICOMPACT®
needs to be connected to a 1/2-inch water supply. The
SANICOMPACT® is supplied with a supply tube. The
copper end of this supply tube will fit inside the 3/8-inch
compression end of a shut-off valve.
2e ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
The SANICOMPACT® should be connected to a 120 V,
60 Hz, 15 Amp. Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, (either of
the breaker or receptacle type).
Connect only to receptacle protected by a ground fault circuit.
Warning: risk of electric shock - this pump is suplied with a
grounding conductor and grounding type attachment plug
to reduce the risk of electrical shock be certain that it is
connected only to a properly grounded - type receptacle.
Note: Do not connect the SANICOMPACT® to a power
source supplied by an inverter.
2f INSTALLATION OF FLOOR FASTENERS
After installing the water supply and
discharge pipe, place the
SANICOMPACT® in such a manner
that it lines up with the piping. Mark
the perimeter of the base with a
pencil on the floor. Mark the
15 mm
mounting holes of the bowl on the
floor. Remove the unit. Measure
from the intersection of the
mounting holes 1cm (3/8-inch)
inward, this mark will be the back of the plastic bracket
which rests eventually against the inside of the china bowl.
Mark and drill holes. If installed on a concrete or stone
floor, drill two 8mm (5/16-inch) holes approximately 50mm
(2-inch) deep and insert plugs. If installed on a wooden
floor, drill a pilot hole for number 10 wood screws. Do not
over tighten the screws as the porcelain base may crack.
This is also a good time to write down the serial number of
the SANICOMPACT®, it is located at the rear or the motor.
You may now finish off the installation discharge pipe.
2g COMMISSIONING THE UNIT
1. Open the stop valve completely.
2. Plug the electrical cord into the receptacle.
3. Push the air switch and hold for one second, let the unit
go through its cycle, repeat.
4. Now throw some toilet paper into the bowl and press the
switch again to verify the correct working of the unit and
discharge pipe.
2h OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
After use, activate the push button (air switch) located on
the rear left side of the bowl. Other than regular cleaning,
the SANICOMPACT® does not need any maintenance. The
SANICOMPACT® stops the macerating cycle automatically
after activating the switch.
It is strongly recommended to use only toilet paper, e.g.,
single sheet paper. Do not flush newspaper, printing
material, paper towels and other non-absorbent material, ect.
The SANICOMPACT® is to be used only for human waste
and toilet paper. Foreign material such as sanitary napkins,
tampons, condoms, cotton buds, cotton strands of mops,
cat litter, etc. will damage the macerating/pump unit and will
void the warranty.
Avoid solvents, oils, paints, food particles, plastic bags etc.
because chemicals and foreign materials may seriously
damage the pump unit.
To clean & descale the toilet bowl, use an adequate descaler
that does not contain bleach or chlorine base.
The frequency of descaling depends on the water quality in
your region. We recommend that it is done at least twice a year.
In case of electrical power failure of any duration, e.g.,
strikes, vacation, maintenance work, it is necessary to
close the Shut-Off valve, because leaks, no matter how
small, may fill up the bowl in time and cause flooding.
Note: While dressing, do not sit on the lid of the
SANICOMPACT®. It will shatter.
2i RETURN OF THE UNIT
In the unfortunate event that the SANICOMPACT® is
defective and has to be returned for service, we suggest to
remove the macerating/pump from the porcelain bowl.
Please ensure that it has been thoroughly cleaned and
disinfected inside and outside prior to packaging for dispatch.
Do not submerge the motor completely in water; the
electrical components might be damaged beyond repair.
2j
DISMANTLING AND REMOVING THE MOTOR FROM
THE TOILET
FOR QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ONLY
1. Disconnect the SANICOMPACT® from the electrical supply.
2. Close the Shut-Off valve and disconnect toilet supply
tube.
3. (If installed) Close Gate or Ball Valve and disconnect
from discharge pipe system.
4. Remove rear screws holding the SANICOMPACT® to the
floor.
5. Remove front screws that holds the motor unit to the
china.
6. In the rear of the unit, look for a clear plastic hose going
from the solenoid valve to a black elbow in the top of the
bowl. With a twisting motion pull the black elbow out of
the porcelain.
7. In the rear of the unit, look for a large rubber elbow,
going from the motor to the p-trap of the toilet. Unscrew
the gear clamp near the motor (holding the rubber
elbow).
8. The motor is assembled in the reverse of the above.
IMPORTANT
Before returning the motor to the factory, a return
authorization is needed from the manufacturer since some
repairs may be done in the field. Parts or motors send in for
repair, must be send pre-paid. Units send collect and/or
send without prior authorization, will be refused.
Package the macerating/pump unit properly with adequate
shock absorbent material around it. Send package prepaid
to the manufacturer, making sure to insure against loss
and/or transit damage, (the amount of $ 250.00 will
suffice).
If any repairs are done outside the warranty period, or
when the user damages the macerating/pump unit, an
estimate of repair cost will be mailed to the customer. All
repairs (parts and labour) will be done on a pre-paid basis
only.
3 ADVICE
PIPE SUPPORTS
All sanitary pipe work must be
supported, in accordance with the pipe
manufacturers recommendations, to
avoid dipping, which may cause the
build up of residual water and
subsequent blockage.
BENDS
Where possible bends should be used.
Do not use elbows. If not available use
two 45° elbows.
VERTICAL INSTALLATION FIRST
If vertical lift is required, this must
precede the horizontal pipe run.
DIRECTLY VERTICAL
The vertical discharge pipe should first
bypass the bowl, do not extend the
horizontal portion of the pipe for more
than 12-inch.
EASY ACCESS
The unit should be accessible and
removable in the event of maintenance
being required. During the installation a
full-port gate valve should be fitted at
the base of any vertical discharge pipe
work from the unit to allow easy
removal of the unit without flooding.
GRAVITY FALL
Horizontal discharge pipe work must
also have a positive gravity fall to allow
free drainage when the pump stops.
NO DIRECT FALL
Where the point of discharge into the
soil stack is significantly lower than the
base of the unit, an anti-siphon valve
may need to be fitted at the highest
point in the pipe run in order to avoid
siphoning of the water seal.
THREE FEET MINIMUM
The macerating/pump unit must be
installed at least 3 feet from the soil
stack. This will cause the macerator to
operate for an adequate period of time
to ensure waste reduction.
SOIL STACK CONNECTION
All discharge pipe work must be
connected to the soil stack by an
appropriate and approved TY
connection. Please note: the use of a
Saddle Clip may be prohibited in your
area.
PIPE WORK
All pipe work should be either copper or
solvent weld plastic. Do not us flexible
pipes.
Performance
DISCHARGE HEIGHT (feet)
NO DIAGONAL “UPHILL” PIPE
RUNS
All discharge pipe work from the unit
should run either directly vertical
upwards from it or in a horizontal plane
(with a small gravity flow) to the point of
discharge. Pipe work should not be
installed with diagonal upward slope
from the unit.

DISCHARGE
Never discharge directly into an open
drain, manhole or rainwater drain pipe. It
is illegal.
FREEZING
Ensure all pipe work susceptible
freezing is adequately insulated. The toilet and macerating/pump unit must
be properly winterized in unheated
buildings.
ELECTRICITY
Before attempting any maintenance or
servicing, the unit must be disconnected
from the power source.
The SANICOMPACT® must be
connected to a Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter and be supplied with 120V,
60Hz.

14
16
18
FLOWRATE (USgal/min)
FRICTION LOSSES
For every 10m (30 feet) of horizontal distance, deduct 1m
(3 feet) of vertical distance. For every bend, deduct 1m (3 feet)
of vertical distance. For long horizontal distances, (after the vertical riser) increase the diameter of the discharge pipe to 11/2inch or larger for drainage by gravity.
