INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTARY WORK CAMPS PROGRAM - 2016
GEN-01 GIVE A HAND-1 KAS – ANTALYA 01.04 – 14.04 RENO/AGRI 5 VOLS
Alternative Life Association which aims and works for the social integration of people with disabilities has
recently built a multi purpose venue in a village near by Kas – Antalya in the south-west of Turkey. In this
venue people with disabilities who has been excluded from mainstream educational opportunities will
have the chance to have education in various fields. Volunteers who are willing to work with and for
disabled people are welcome. Although we do not request a nonstop working effort, volunteers are
supposed to dedicate their time and energy when needed. Your help is requested all day long, of course
with breaks. You can help us for the over all running of the site in different field works. Volunteers who can
undertake more than just one task will be preferred. The work fields are as follows.
1) Kitchen : Food preperation / cooking / table setting / food serving / dish washing.
2) Field: General cleaning of all units / fixing buildings, boats, bikes, instruments / gardening both in main
facility and in eco farm / animal care ( mainly horses), farming, harvesting, landscaping.
3) Training as artist or assistant or just helper : Art workshops (painting, dance, rhythm, instrument, dj,
drama, photography, sculpture, ceramic, hangicraft) / courses ( PC, foreign languages, personal
development, sign language) / reading & library management / sport ( swimming, scuba diving, sailing,
rowing, canoeing, trekking, outdoor sports, volleyball, badminton, biking, bocce , climbing, archery) / boat
skipping / various outdoor trainings / yoga and pilates.
4) Organization : Entertainment and event organizations / indoor – outdoor games, driving &
transportation / short trips guiding / health care & first aid / free time activities;
5) Administration : Office works (web and social media support / designs, graphic designs / administrative
assistance / leading volunteers.
Accomodation: Volunteer dormitory, but if there is a disabled group hosted then under tents. Normally
disabled groups arrives in May, but just in case. Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. If you prefer privacy
you can also bring your own tent. F: Breakfast, dinner and lunch will be prepared and served at the facility.
Volunteers may be requested to help in turns for the kitchen works as preparing the food, cooking, setting
up tables, washing the dishes, etc. LA: English. LO: Kas is one of the most popular coasts in southern Turkey
and our facility is 11 km away from the town center. Please be aware that the facility is a bit isolated and
there is no night life. A short motivation letter (if possible in English at least to say in which field you can
volunteer) should be sent with the application form.
Arrivals and meeting point: Volunteers arriving indivually will be met in Kas Coach Terminal and be
transferred to the center. The nearest airport is Dalaman. It takes around 5 hours from Dalaman Airport
and 6 hours from Antalya Airport to reach to the camp site including the waiting time in transfer coach
terminals. Therefore you must arrange your landing before 14.00 to be met in Kaş Coach terminal. More
details will be on the info sheet. Departure is on the last day of the camp after breakfast.

Alternative Life Association (www.ayder.org.tr ) which aims and works for the social integration of people

If you wish to join in a work camp with your close friends, class mates or volunteers of your previous work
camps, just alert them. Also if you are an individual or a couple, but prefer to be in a smaller group, you are
welcome too. GENÇTUR can host up to 5 individuals or 3-5 people from the same country for the same
period. The host, Math Village needs small group of volunteers for different daily tasks during the spring in
order to prepare the center for the coming season.
Please be aware that, if you apply as an individual you might be the only volunteer in these date span, due
to the early dates of the camp, if by bad luck there is no other application for the same dates. But you will
not be completely alone as there are staff of Math Village who stay there for the whole year.
W: Construction, reconstruction, renovation, landscaping, gardening, class cleaning and kitchen works at a
non-formal education center. A: In student dormitories. Sleeping bag is necessary. F: Food is provided at
the venue. Volunteers help the staff for preparing, cooking the meals, setting up the tables and serving the
food to the students during the courses. LA: English. LO: Sirince is a small village in the west of Turkey.
Please be aware that the center is a bit isolated. No night life, TV or disco is available at the center, but
there is internet connection. The next village Sirince, which is only 15 minutes by foot, is very attractive
and famous for its homemade wines and traditional architecture. The nearest town Selcuk, which is the
home of world famous Ephessus open-air museum http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mUqg1yBFTo .
The nearest city Izmir, is one hour away by coach. Arrivals and Meeting Place : Volunteers of this camp
must fly directly to İzmir and then take a train to Selcuk. The cost of local travel is about 8 Euros. The last
train from İzmir Airport to Selçuk is at 19.30. But the journey takes 1 hour 15 minutes which is not enough
to catch the last minibus to Sirince Village in Selçuk Coach terminal at 20.00. Therefore you must arrange
your landing before 17.00. Extra Fee: Individuals can apply free of charge. 3 and more applications from
the same country is subject to a charge of 50 Euro per person. This cost is shared with the host to buy
working materials.

GEN-04 TEACH CAMP-1 ABANA - KASTAMONU 23.04- 08.05 TEACH 3 VOLS
Abana Multiprogrammed High School invites native or non-native English speakers to spend 2 weeks with
Turkish teenagers, in order to practice English by daily lessons, activities, and games. Volunteers must be
minimum 20 years old and have a good level of speaking English. Practicing English is the main aim of this
camp. Thus creative volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama,
sport will be preferred. A motivation letter including the Skype ID should be send along with the
application form. Applicants will be interviewed via Skype before being confirmed. Alcohol consuming is
not allowed during the camp as well as smoking in front of the students and indoors. W: Assisting
teachers in classrooms, by organizing and running daily activities to practice English for local teenagers
who are students of the high school and 15-17 age group.
A: In schools dormitory. Sleeping bag and
mat are not necessary. Toilets and showers are shared. F: Will be supplied at the site. LA: English. LO:
Abana is a small town in the north of Turkey near by the Black Sea coast.
Meeting Point: GENCTUR office in Istanbul on 23.04.2016 at 18.00. The project will start in Istanbul with a
compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp. The group
will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening. This trip will be organized
by GENCTUR and cost around 20 Euro, one way per volunteer. The departure from the camp site is on the
8th of May after breakfast.

GEN-05 ADVENTURE CAMP INEGOL 25.04 – 15.05 ENVI – MANU 10 VOLS
(P.S: You can join in this camp also just for 2 weeks. ) This is a unique work camp for nature-lovers and
back-packers. Evliya Çelebi Way is a walking route close to Bursa city in northwest Turkey which has never
been waymarked before. It is based on the pilgrimage route of the 17th Century Ottoman traveller of that
name (http://cultureroutesinturkey.com/evliya-celebi-way/). This spring, a group of international
volunteers will waymark the route. The group will move frequently to another location, and the volunteers
need to be prepared to walk several kilometres during the work each day. Some days the group will be split
into two so they can work on different sections. The terrain is flattish or hilly, with rare steep sections. A
vehicle with driver will carry tents and equipment and, there will be a GENCTUR leader and a local leader
who speaks Turkish-English. There will be other local helpers as well on some days. This is a hard manual
work, located on the hills, needs a lot of walking and moving. If you are not a real nature lover and not
ready for these conditions please do not apply.
W: Waymarking, route-clearing, garbage-collection along the walking route. We would also like someone
to photograph or film activities on the route and make a blog or short film. A: In supplied tents, or indoors
in villages where possible; sleeping-bag and mat are necessary; bring your own tent if you wish. F:
Materials will be supplied by the local municipalities and volunteers will be responsible for preparing meals
for the group by daily turns. Important: Pack your gear in one soft kitbag or rucksack. You also need a
daysack to carry your picnic, waterproof, camera, etc. LA: English. LO: Inegol is the nearest town to the
project site where is in the north-west of Turkey. As the group will always be moving there is no chance for

leisure activities. The group will create its own entertainment. Meeting Point: GENCTUR office in
Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should
attend on 25 April, in GENCTUR Office at 10.00 a.m. All volunteers must arrive in İstanbul on the 24th,
otherwise you will miss the group departure on the same afternoon and will have to make your own way
to the campsite. The journey to the campsite takes about 5 hours and costs 20 Euro. The departure from
the camp site will be either 8th or 15th of May after breakfast.
GEN-08 WATER LILY-WOMEN ONLY DUZCE 16.05 – 30.05 MANU – KIDS 4 VOLS
The Water Lily Women Cooperative is running a kindergarten for the kids of the working mothers of Duzce
city. In order to raise fund they also organize different activities related with their jobs. Producing hand
made food like jam, tomato sauce, powder soup and selling them is a source of income for the
cooperative. They need female volunteers to help them for gardening and landscaping works as well as
preparing the year end party, to decorate the walls, play games and sing songs with the kids, welcome the
guests, etc. The volunteers will also help the staff to run activities with the kids. If you are talented on
gardening or can play a portable instrument, or teach some games to the kids, able to do handicrafts you
are very welcome. W: Helping for the party organization and running activities for the kids, together with
the staff. Also some gardening works will be a part of your work. A: In the kindergarten. Sleeping bag and
mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at the site. LA: English. LO: Duzce is a big city in the north-west
of Turkey. Camp site is in the suburb of the city.
Meeting Point: GENCTUR office in Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation
meeting that all volunteers should attend on 16th of May, in GENCTUR Office at 10.00. The group will
travel together to the camp site by a coach on the same afternoon. Therefore all volunteers must arrive in
Istanbul on the 15th of May, otherwise you will miss the group departure on the 16th and will have to
make your own way to the camp site. The journey to the camp site takes 4 hours and costs 15 Euro. The
departure from the camp site is on the 30th of May after breakfast. Note: No alcohol is permitted during
the camp at the campsite and the accommodation venue. Smoking is not allowed while volunteers are
with the kids.
GEN-09 WORK AND PRACTICE ORHANELI – BURSA 23.05–06.06 TEACH-MANU 6 VOLS
Orhaneli town has hosted an international voluntary work camp in 2015 which got a big interest of the
young locals. Many of them have been inspired by the work camp and therefore want to improve their
English. We are looking for volunteers who will spend their time with the local youth in order to practice
English. You don’t need to be a native speaker but must have at least a medium level of speaking English.
W: Volunteers will be facilitators of conversation sessions. Apart from practising English they will also do
some manual work like landscaping of children playgrounds. A: The volunteers will be accommodation in a
students dormitory. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied by the municipality. LA:
English. LO : Orhaneli is a rural town of Bursa province, located in the northwest of Turkey. Meeting Point :
GENCTUR office in Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all
volunteers should attend on 23rd of May, in GENCTUR Office at 10.00 a.m. Therefore all volunteers must
arrive in İstanbul on the 22nd of May, otherwise you will miss the group departure on the 23rd and will
have to make your own way to the camp site. The journey to the camp site takes 5 hours and costs 20
Euro. The departure from the camp site is on the 6th of June after breakfast.

GEN-11 TEACH CAMP-2 SAMSUN 30.05 – 21.06 TEACH - KIDS 3 VOLS
Kumköy Primary School, which hosted 3 volunteers last year is inviting new volunteers for this year. If you
like children and can teach them very basic English like days of the week, the hours, counting up to 100 by
games or make daily talks with them and play with them, you will enjoy a lot for being in this camp. The
kids of the village will be waiting for you impatiently and you will have unforgettable memories with them.
If you are talented on drawing, you can also draw and paint some pictures on the classroom walls. W:
Practicing basic English with primary school kids + drawing pictures on the walls if you have a talent (This
task is not compulsory). A: In host families, sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at
the site. LA: English is the camp language. Turkish will be helpful but not a must. LO: Kumköy is a small
village in the north of Turkey in Black Sea region. Nearest town is Carsamba and the city is Samsun. R: A
motivation letter with a Skype ID for the interview should be sent along with the application form. Meeting
Point: Samsun – Carsamba Airport on 30.05.2016 Monday at 17.00. Note: No alcohol is permitted during
the camp at the campsite and the accommodation venue. Smoking is not allowed while volunteers are

GEN-13 WHAT R U? ISTANBUL 18.06 – 02.07 RENO-ENVI-AGRI 12 VOLS
Nesin Foundation is a long term partner of GENÇTUR and hosted many workcamps in the past. The
foundation offers a shelter for kids from poor families. Kids are taken care of by the foundation until they
stand on their own feet. During the camp kids will be on holiday. There are different type of manual work
for the volunteers like gardening, landscaping, renovation, waste disposal, field work etc. W: The
volunteers will be doing manual work according to the daily needs. Renovation and gardening works.

Some days there might be work on the field like hoeing the soil, picking vegetables, etc. or some work in
the kitchen like preparing the food, washing the dishes. A: In the theatre hall. Volunteers will sleep on the
floor. Sleeping bag and a mat are necessary. F: Will be supplied by the foundation. LA: English. LO: The
foundation is in the outskirt of Catalca town where is 1,5 hour away from Istanbul. But please be aware
that this camp will not offer you the city or night life of Istanbul.
Meeting Point: The camp site is accessable from İstanbul Atatürk airport by public transport. The journey
lasts 2 hours. The departure from the camp site is on the 2nd of July after breakfast. More info will be on

GEN-14 FUN WITH KIDS YENISAKRAN-IZMIR 19.06 – 01.07 SOCI/KIDS 5 VOLS
GENCTUR runs a summer camps for kids and each camp lasts 1 week. There will be two different kids
groups in each week.The first group of this camp is consist of kids aged between 10-14 whose families are
financially supporting this holiday in Afacan Youth House (www.afacan.de) by the seaside. The kids profile
of the second week is social and economically disadvantaged kids. The fund raised by first week family
supported camps is used to support the second week disadvantaged kids to have a holiday in the same
center.
We are looking for communicative, talkative, active and child friendly volunteers who are at least 20 years
old with a good command of English. Because practicing English with songs, games and dialogues will be a
part of your task. Abilities on any sports (like basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, table tennis, etc.)
chess, arts & crafts, music, dance, drama, in & outdoor group games are welcome.
You will share the responsibilities of the leading team to take care a group of kids from the beginning till
the end of the camp; including the trips outside of the camp as well as all kind of activities during the
camp.
Please note that you will be dealing with the kids through the given & intensive program all day long. You
will spend most of your time with the kids in the camp area with a limited private life. Thus contact with
the locals is very limited; however, you will have contact with the working people and the people from
other groups in Afacan Youth House. Volunteers may have fun together only after the kids go to the bed
and the team cover the late, daily staff meeting in the camp. Leaving the camp area is not allowed due to
unexpected emergency cases. Team work is very essential for this camp. Thus any volunteer who disagrees
with the camp rules and team spirit are asked to leave. Smoking & drinking alcohol is not allowed during
the camp at the campsite in front of the kids. Please be aware of the rules before applying.
W: Counselling a group of children aged between 10-14 years old, leading several activities for them. A: In
Afacan Youth Centre (www.afacan.de) in 2-3 bedded rooms with toilet and shower. Sleeping bag and mat
are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at the campsite. The counsellors will eat together with the group of
children whom they are responsible for. LA: English. Turkish will be helpful but not necessary. LO:
Yenisakran is by the Aegean Sea, in west of Turkey. The next city is Izmir. R: A motivation letter with a pass

GEN-15
RAMADAN IN THE TOWN
DURSUNBEY 19.06 – 04.07 MANU 12 VOLS
This camp is a unique opportunity to get to know the traditional way of life of Turkish people in the rural
areas. The camp will take place in traditional Dursunbey town with 17.000 inhabitants.
As this camp will take place during the sacred Ramadan month of Arabic calendar, the volunteers will have
a chance to observe how local people live in Ramadan. The volunteers will have the change to have dinners
with local families who are keeping fasts during the Ramadan or join in public dinners called “iftar” which
means end of daily fasting.
W: Reorganizing the public picnic area of the town. Leveling the ground, paving stones on the roads,
creating green areas, setting up tables and sitting groups, etc. A: In a dormitory, sleeping bag and mat are
not necessary. F: Volunteers will prepare the breakfast by themselves with the given food. Lunch will be
served as packs at the working area. Dinners will be offered either by families or eaten with crowds. LA:
English. LO: Dursunbey is a medium size town in the west of Turkey. The nearest city is Balıkesir. R:
Volunteers should be aware that they will be in a religious environment thus must respect the rules of

Civril town hosted the first international work camp in 2014. The impact was very positive thus the
municipality hosted 2 different groups, in 2015 for a summer camp project. This year they are going to
repeat the same experience. This is a very good project to have very close contact with the local people. If
you are a talkative, friendly, smiling person you are welcome to practise English with the local kids and
youngsters. The summer camp will contain different sport sessions and practising English will be an
additional part of the program. Although volunteers mainly will focus on practising English, any additional
talent will be appreciated. Volunteers who can play an instrument, organize a drama, teach indoor outdoor games, will be preferred. Volunteers are also expected to make a presentation of their country
and culture. But the most important feature is speaking English. This camp offers a high level close contact

landscaping, painting fences, etc. Some days will be spend in the tree nursery for planting flowers in small
sacks.

GENCTUR runs a summer camp for a group of Turkish kids aged 10-14 and Turkish & foreign teenagers
aged 14-17 whose families are financially supporting this holiday in Afacan Youth House (www.afacan.de ),
by the seaside. In the first week of this camp we will have kids aged 10-14, the main theme of this camp is
photography and in the second camp we will have international teenagers aged 14-17, the main theme of
the second camp is film shooting. The fund raised by such camps is used to support disadvantaged kids to
have a holiday in the same center in the following weeks.
We are looking for communicative, talkative, active, kids friendly volunteers to organize activities for kids
and teens and to take care them during the activities. The kids group will learn photography and the teen
group will create a short film in the camp by the help of volunteers. Experience on photography and short
film making and abilities or any sports (like basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, table tennis, etc.)
chess, arts & crafts, music, dance, drama, in & outdoor group games is preferable. Volunteers will share
the responsibilities of the leading team to take care a group of kids/teens including the trips outside of the
camp and all kind of activities during the camp. Please be aware that you will be dealing with the
kids/teens through the given & intensive program all day long. You will spend most of your time with the
teens in the camp area with a limited private life. Thus contact with the locals is very very limited;
however, you will have contact with the working staff and the people from other groups in Afacan Youth

When he was asked, the Turkish folk hero Nasreddin Hodja, who has many funny jokes said : “The centre
of the world is here : Akşehir”. You will learn his funny jokes if you join in this camp. The local association
of social entrepreneurship wish to commemorate Nasreddin Hodja with an international youth meeting
and voluntary work camp. 10 international + 10 local volunteers will work for a manual project and will
share the social life of the town. This is a unique opportunity for international volunteers to have very close
contact with the locals and to observe the traditional way of life. Volunteers are expected to present their
country and culture. W: Volunteers spend more of their time to socialize with the loclal Youth to practice
English. Additionaly a manual work will be arranged like painting a school or landscaping. A: Volunteers will

The delta of Turkey’s the longest river Kizilirmak (Red River), lays by the Black Sea coast and hosts 350
different bird speices. The area is very large and some parts are polluted by the waste staff like plastics,
metals, etc. International volunteers will work together with 10 local young people for collecting waste
materials, bird watching and counting, helping to heal wounded birds, landscaping and helping to the staff
of the center for their daily tasks. This is a very nice camp for nature lovers. The camp site is very isolated,
no night life and no internet is available. Therefore we need really enthusiastic, patient, team workers who
can apart from hard working also create freetime activities for the whole group.
W: Cleaning the ground by collecting waste materials. A: Under supplied tents. Sleeping bad and mat are
necessary. You can also bring your own tent if you want. F: Will be supplied at the site. Volunteers also will

This is an international thematic camp for the age group 14(*)-17. Teenagers from different countries will
create a “group film” in Afacan Youth House (www.afacan.de). Majority of the group will be Turkish teens.
But the camp language is English. The participants will use their creativity & express their ideas to write
their scenario, act, shoot and direct their films in this camp. Besides filming, different activities like sports,
arts & crafts, creative drama, music, etc. will be in the daily program of the camp. Turkish & international
volunteers will be leading or assisting the daily activities. Afacan Youth House is a place where GENCTUR
hosts various voluntary and youth camps. The campsite is a secure place and participants will not be
allowed to leave the camp site on their own.

5 Euros. In fact flying to İzmir might be cheaper and more convenient and less tiring. If you prefer to land in
İzmir Airport and reach to the camp site by your own, you should pay 25 Euro for the extra night

SEKADER is a local NGO aiming to socialize disabled people of the area through water sports. They hired a
camping site where they teach swimming, kanoing and diving to disabled people. To raise a fund to cover
the costs of the camping site they run a camp to practise English. Good English speakers are invited to
spend 10 days with a group of international youngsters who wish to improve their English in such a camp.

night and national dance activities. There will be Turkish youngsters as well in the group. So you will have a
chance to learn a lot about them and you will introduce your culture and country. You will play games
altogether. It will be a great camp, great fun.
W: Volunteers will be responsible for the daily cleaning of the site including the area, kitchen, toilet and
bathrooms and other buildings and some landscaping work. Part of the the group will clean the beach. A:
In a camping site by the seaside, under tents and huts. Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. If you want
privacy you can bring your own tent. Toilets and showers are shared. F: Will be served at the site. LA:

Lapseki is a seaside town and hosted several GENCTUR workcamps in the past. This year the municipality
invites international volunteers for some landscaping works in the town.
W: Landscaping in the town. Different type of manual works according to the municipalitie’s needs. A:
Volunteers will stay in a dormitory, sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be served at the
dormitory. LA: English. LO: Lapseki is a small and calm seaside town in the northwest of Turkey & close to
antic site Troy, Assos & Gallipoli battle fields. Nearest city is Canakkale. Arrivals and meeting point: In front
of the municipaliy building on the first day of the camp at 17.30 . The journey from Istanbul to Lapseki lasts
5 hours and costs 15 Euro by coach. The departure from the camp site is on the 30th after breakfast. More

A local high school invites volunteers for painting the school’s garden wall and some landscaping work in
the garden. This project is in a town where the local are quite hospitable and the contact with the locals is
really valuable. If you are ablo to draw pictures on the Wall, you are very welcome. W: Painting the garden
Wall, and landscaping the school garden. A: In the dormitory of the school. F: Will be supplied in the
school. LA: English. LO: Civril is a town in the west of Turkey. Nearest city is Denizli. Meeting Point:

SEKADER is a local NGO aiming to socialize disabled people of the area through water sports. They hired a
camping site where they teach swimming, kanoing and diving to disabled people. To raise a fund to cover
the costs of the camping site they run a camp to practise English. Good English speakers are invited to
spend 10 days with a group of international youngsters who wish to improve their English in such a camp.
If you have time and wish to stay longer, you can also join in the previous term between 12.08 – 22.08.

GEN-42 ROCK MUSIC FESTIVAL BURSA 23.08 – 05.09 ART – MANU 15 VOLS
Nilüfer Municipality of Bursa city is going to organize an international rock music festival for the second
time in 2016. A large number of native and foreign music groups and audiences are expected. Volunteers
needed to help for preparing the festival. Apart from the labour contribution, volunteers with talents on
video filming, photography, dance, drawing, painting, playing an instrument, street performances are
welcome. Volunteers may present their talents and can make their amateur, out of stage performances on
the festival ground. W: Helping for festival preparation, setting up tents and stands, garbage collection,
remove tents after the festival. Different type of manual work may be requested during the festival. A:

Math Village is a math-summer school located in the nature and owns over 1000 olive trees and harvest
about 20 tons of olives per year. The oil produced by the collected olives is used in the kitchen of the
summer school. Math Village needs volunteers to work on the olive yard before the harvest. W: Hard
physical work , hoeing the soil, cutting dead branches, clearing and levelling the ground. A: In student
dormitories for 6 people with shared toilet and bathroom. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will

This workcamp is a special one for people over 35 years old. Afacan Youth House www.afacan.de is a place
where GENCTUR runs voluntary workcamps for disadvantaged youth and children, disabled people,
teenagers and kids. In order to supply annual olive and olive oil stocks, the center will host volunteers to
pick up and process olives from a municipal field. W: Volunteers will collect olives from the trees, separate
according to quality, pack, make stripes on olives, etc. There is a chance to see olive oil making process in a
factory. As the youth center will be shut after this camp the volunteers will be asked to help to carry goods
and some cleaning work as well as part of their daily work. A: In the youth center, in double rooms with
toilet and shower. F: Will be supplied at the center. LA: English. LO: Yenisakran is by the Aegean Sea, in

GEN-MTV1 DREAMS ACADEMY-KAS ANTALYA 05.04–30.10 MANU-DISA-ART 5 VOLS
Alternative Life Association (www.ayder.org.tr ) which aims and works for the social integration of people
with disabilities built a multi purpose venue in 2014, in a village near by Kas – Antalya in the south-west of
Turkey. In this venue people with disabilities who has been excluded from mainstream educational
opportunities will have the chance to have education in various fields. Volunteers who are willing to work
with and for disabled people are welcome. Please be aware that the center is open all year but disabled
people mainly will be there between 15 May – 30 October. Thus you should consider their absence if you
are willing to come out of these dates and sometimes even within these days. When there is no disabled
groups in the center wolunteers should agree to do other tasks mentioned below. Also you might be the
only foreign volunteer during your period of stay. We can not guarantee a group of international
volunteers all the time.
W: Although we do not request a nonstop working effort, volunteers are supposed to dedicate their time
end energy when needed. Your help may be requested all day long, of course with breaks.
You can help for the over all running of the site in different field works. Volunteers who can undertake
more than just one task will be preferred. The work fields are as follows.
1) Kitchen : Food preperation, cooking, table setting, food serving, dish washing.
2) Field: General cleaning of all units, fixing buildings, boats, bikes, instruments. Gardening in main facility
and in eco farm. Animal care ( mainly horses), farming, harvesting, landscaping.
3) Training as artist or assistant or just helper : Art workshops (painting, dance, rhythm, instrument, dj,

A: Although a guest house and dormitories are avaliable, volunteers might be asked to stay in tents when
necessary. Disabled members of the arriving groups have the priority of using the dormitories. Sleeping
bags, mats and tents will be supplied but those volunteers who prefer to bring their own ones are
welcome. F: Breakfast, dinner and lunch will be prepared and served at the facility. Volunteers may be
requested to help in turns for the kitchen works as preparing the food, cooking, setting up tables, washing
the dishes, etc. LA: English. Basic Turkish would be an asset. Turkish classes can be arranged for volunteers,
upon request. LO: Kas is one of the most popular coasts in southern Turkey and our facility is 11 km away
from the Kas town Center. Please be aware that the facility is a bit isolated and there is no night life. You
might be the only foreign volunteer especially out of the summer period. R: Minimum age is 20. Minimum

Do you have leadership skills / experience and interested in leading a work camp in Turkey? If so, we invite
you to lead minimum 2, maximum 6 terms of our camps in Math Village

and working together with the volunteers who are coming for Math Village Camps in the summer for 2

Working time is 6 days a week and 6 hours a day. You will also have a free day between each group’s

GEN-MTV3 ROMA CHILDREN ISTANBUL 01.08 – 30.08 2 VOLS
Are you interested in working with Roma kids. Any talent is welcome. Whatever you can teach will be
appreciated. English, origami, handicrafts, drama, music (singing or playing an instrument), drawing, indoor
games,etc. Volunteers with multi talents will be preferred. You will work with 7-13 age group in a center
where Roma kids attend different courses during the summer. You can join us either only for 2 weeks or
for the whole month according to your availability. As the project is in Istanbul, you will have a chance to
discover the big metropol in you free times. W: Organizing activities for Roma kids. A: Volunteers will
share a room in the top floor of the center, private bathroom and toilet included. Please be aware that the
other volunteer can have opposite gender. F: Will be supplied in the center, the room also has a kitchen.
LA:English, Turkish will be helpful but not a must. LO: The Roma Kids Center is centraly located in İstanbul,

GENÇTUR is involved with voluntary workcamps since 1979. We are sending around 500 volunteers abroad
and receiving 300 annually. Youth Exchanges, international seminars and EVS are the other fields that
GENCTUR is in. Our adult workcamps are open to 18+, without upper age limit. But we also have camps for
only 35+, camps for families with children and teenagers. Camp language is English. Most of the camps
offer a close contact with the locals. Mostly, all volunteers meet in GENCTUR office in Istanbul on the first
day of the camp and travel together with the camp leaders to the camp site. Apart from the short term
camps, we have 3 MTV projects.
