De Montfort University is a dynamic organisation, formed from a
diverse range of specialist institutions. Its long history of excellent
teaching, learning and research is founded in the technical and trade
education of the late 19th Century. The name itself is associated with
Simon De Montfort, Earl of Leicester, a distinguished figure in English
history and widely credited with establishing the first parliament in
1265.
Prior to 1992, De Montfort University was known as Leicester Polytechnic
which was created in 1969 through the amalgamation of Leicester College
of Technology and Leicester College of Art. The polytechnic was established
as a corporation in 1989.
In 1992, following the official opening of the Milton Keynes campus by HM
the Queen, De Montfort University was born. Mergers have in the past taken
place with Bedford College of Higher Education, Lincolnshire College of Art
and Design and Lincolnshire College of Agriculture and Horticulture in 1994.
In 1995, the University merged with Charles Frears College of Nursing and
Midwifery.
In 2001 the Lincolnshire campuses merged with the University of Lincolnshire
and Humberside (creating the University of Lincoln) and in 2003 the De
Montfort withdrew from Milton Keynes. The Faculty of Education and
Contemporary Studies at the Bedford campus was recently merged into the
University of Luton to create a new university for Bedfordshire. This merger
has built upon the significant and complementary strengths of that Faculty
and the University of Luton.
Today, De Montfort University has two campuses, Leicester City Campus and
Charles Frears. The University has special arrangements with more than 80
universities and colleges in over 25 countries. It has approximately 20,500
students, 3,240 staff, and an annual turnover in the region of £132.5
million.

Hello Adam,
There aren't really any deadlines as such. Obviously, it makes sense to apply as
early as possible in order to make all the necessary arrangements. I would say
that 2 weeks before the expected start date is as late as they should go, but
that is not set in stone.

Meanwhile a digital portfolio, demonstrating a practice and awareness within

• Photographie
Joindre une photo d’identité en couleur dans l'espace réservé en haut du
formulaire. La taille idéale de la photo est de 3.5cm par 4.5cm. Veuillez sur le
dos de la photo inscrire les informations suivantes: votre nom, votre date de
naissance, le titre du cours pour lequel vous postulez.
1. Détails du candidat
S'il vous plaît cocher le titre anglais qui s'applique à vous, et remplissez votre
nom de famille et votre prénom, votre adresse et votre adresse de
correspondance si elle s’avère être différente lors de votre scolarité à
l’Université. S'il vous plaît transmettez nous autant d'informations de contact
que possible, comme le téléphone et votre adresse e-mail.
2. Détails des cours
Mentionnez le nom du cours que vous souhaitez suivre à DMU. Mentionnez
également la date de début et la date de fin, qui sera celle de votre retour.
Veuillez indiquer en quelle année vous désirez enter (par exemple 1, 2, 3 ou 4)
3. Votre propre université
Précisez le nom, l'adresse, le numéro de téléphone et adresse e-mail de votre
propre université et le nom, numéro de téléphone et e-mail de la personne de
votre université qui est en charge d’organisé l'échange pour vous.
4. Langage Anglais
Mentionnez votre langue maternelle et indiquez le résultat du test
d’évaluation de l'IELTS et/ou le TOEFL. Si vous prévoyez de faire ce test dans le
futur veuillez indiquer la date. Parlez-nous de toute autre qualifications de
l’anglais que vous avez, combien de temps vous avez étudié l'anglais et jusqu’à
quel degré. Des cours d'anglais sont disponibles à DMU.
5. Des personnes handicapées
Encerclez le numéro sur la liste qui s'appliquent à vous (par exemple 000 si vous
ne disposez pas d'un handicap). Si vous avez un handicap et pour tout
complément d'aide ou de soutien, veuillez joindre une lettre avec plus
d'informations.
6. Frais pour le cours

7. Condamnation pénale
Si vous avez déjà été condamné à une juridiction pénale pour un crime grave
tel que le trafic de drogues, la violence causant des lésions corporelles, ou
d'agression sexuelle, veuillez le déclarer. L'Université est en droit de vous
demander plus de détails car il a le devoir de protéger tous ses étudiants et son
personnel.
8. Déclaration
Signez afin signifier que les informations que vous avez donnée sont correctes
et que vous respecter les règlements de DMU (disponible à

Logement
Any enquiries regarding accommodation should be directed only to the
university accommodation office once acceptance has been confirmed. Please
do not advise students to contact the Erasmus co ordinators in finding
accommodation.

Langue
All overseas students normally require one of the following qualifications,
or equivalent, before they begin a degree course:
• IELTS 6.0
• TOEFL 550/213 computer-based test
• GCSE/GCE O level English Language grade C.
Students with lower scores have the opportunity to study flexible
programmes here before beginning their degree course and will also be
offered English language classes during their studies. Further details can be
obtained from the International Office

In addition we offer excellent English language support through our Centre
for English Language Learning.
Divers
Accepted students should arrive in UK during induction week and before
teaching commences. I am an academic member of staff and once teaching
commences I am very busy therefore it is better for exchange students to arrive
during this week, normally the final week of September.
