❙❚ After the successes of 2006 and 2007, Dexia and its
partners the EAHSA (European Association of Homes and
Service for the Ageing) and Sodexo now offer you this
year’s edition of the “Better Life Time” conference. BLT ’08,
the theme of which this year will be “Ageing : from
Worries to Opportunities”, will be held on Friday 21
November 2008 in Brussels, at the Dexia Auditorium 44.
Furthering the experience of previous editions, this conference
will again provide the international platform where public and
private partners in the European Union will exchange best
practices and innovative ideas around the topic of the ageing
population.
How can we guarantee the financing of care for the elderly in
future generations? What are the various challenges to which
the public sector will have to respond to continue providing
proper care for its senior citizens? How can we finance the required investments and to what extent are efficiency and opportunity determined by local regulations? Can international
diversification contribute to a better distribution of risk?
To what extent can public-private partnerships contribute added value? How can we offer a better response to the specific
needs of our elders and how do we see the increasing cultural
diversity in care for the elderly?
Ageing population also brings about specific needs in real estate development. To what must we pay attention in the design and construction of new infrastructures intended for retirement and what are the principal market evolutions?
How can public authorities at all levels contribute to
creating a framework whereby the public and private sector
can work hand in hand to overcome the demographic challenge? This forum seeks to debate the issues in their wider
context.
During this conference, numerous participants will present their view of the challenges and the opportunities
associated with demographic change. The conference is
intended for all companies, freelances, associations, institutions, investors, agents and public authorities, wishing to gain
a deeper understanding of this phenomenon and to play a vital role in their respective fields of action.

sont les différents défis auxquels le secteur public devra
répondre pour continuer à assurer un bon accueil des
seniors ? Comment pouvons-nous financer les investissements qui s’imposent et dans quelle mesure rendement
et opportunités sont-ils déterminés par la réglementation
locale ? La diversification internationale peut-elle contribuer à
une meilleure répartition du risque ?
Hoe kunnen we de betaalbaarheid van de ouderenzorg verzekeren voor de toekomstige generaties? Welke zijn de verschillende uitdagingen waarop de overheden een antwoord
moeten geven om een goede opvang te kunnen blijven verzekeren? Hoe kunnen we de noodzakelijke investeringen financieren en in hoeverre worden rendementen en opportuniteiten
bepaald door lokale regelgeving? Kan internationale diversificatie bijdragen tot een betere risicospreiding?

une valeur ajoutée dans ce cadre ? Comment pouvons-nous
offrir une meilleure réponse aux besoins spécifiques de nos
aînés et comment envisageons-nous la diversité culturelle
croissante dans les soins aux personnes âgées ?
Le vieillissement de la population occasionne également des
besoins spécifiques en matière de développement immobilier.
À quoi devons-nous être attentifs lors de la conception et la
construction de nouvelles infrastructures destinées au troisième âge et quelles sont les principales évolutions du marché ?
Comment les pouvoirs publics, tous niveaux confondus, peuvent-ils contribuer à créer un cadre dans lequel secteur public et secteur privé peuvent travailler main dans la main à la
réussite du défi démographique ? Ce forum nous permettra de
placer le débat dans un contexte plus large.
Durant ce congrès, de nombreux intervenants prestigieux
présenteront leur vision des défis et des opportunités liés
aux changements démographiques. Ce congrès s’adresse à
