Zal de toekomst kleiner zijn?
Beste Lezer / Lezeres.
Volgens een recent verhaal in de Engelse media, zal de toekomst zowel warmer als kleiner zijn.
Deze conclusie is getrokken na een 20 jaar durend onderzoek uitgevoerd op Hirta, een klein Schots eiland, waar biologen ontdekten dat
de lokale schapen elk jaar een beduidend stuk kleiner werden!
Natuurlijk was deze trend een interessant raadsel, helemaal omdat de meeste dieren alleen maar groter worden en helemaal in Hirta
waar het koele klimaat normaliter juist zwaardere dieren zou moeten voorbrengen om de kou te weerstaan.
Zoals vele antwoorden op wetenschappelijke vraagstukken momenteel, is dit te vinden in - u raadt het misschien al - de
klimaatverandering!
Het lijkt erop dat de overlevingskansen van jonge schapen drastisch gestegen zijn door de temperatuur verhoging, dit resulteert in meer
volwassen schapen die samen van dezelfde hoeveelheid voedsel moeten leven.
Misschien een rare gedachte, maar als de klimaatverandering schapen kleiner kan maken, kunnen mensen misschien ook voordeel
hebben bij dit fenomeen en een paar overtollige kilo's kwijt raken.

Le futur deviendra-t-il plus petit ?

Selon une récente information publiée par des médias britanniques, le futur sera à la fois plus chaud et plus petit.
Cette affirmation a été faite suite à un projet de 20 ans de recherche réalisé à Hita, une petiteîle écossaise, où des biologistes ont
constaté que les moutons locaux deviennent considérablement petits année après année!
Bien entendu, cette tendance est un véritable casse-tête dans la mesure où la plupart des animaux deviennent généralement de plus
en plus grands, surtout à Hita, où il y a un climat frais qui rend normalement les animaux plus gros pour résister au froid.
Comme tant d'autres découvertes scientifiques, les biologistes l'ont attribué au -vous l'avez sûrement deviné- changement climatique!
Il semble qu'avec la hausse des températures, le taux de survie de petits moutons a augmenté de façon significative, augmentant ainsi
le nombre de moutons adultes. Et, bien qu'il y ait moins d'aliments naturels parce qu'il fait plus chaud, ils n'ont donc pas besoin de
manger autant.
Mais si on pense que le changement climatique peut rendre petits les moutons, les humains devraient tirer profit de ce phénomène et
pourraient perdre, naturellement, quelques kilos en trop !
