Titre de circulation franais (CG collection) - Very luxurious - Restored and maintained with care - With a lot of urban chic! Princess Vanden Plas sounds a tad pompous, but that was the iconic brand that indicated a particularly luxurious version of the rather plebian Austin 1100/1300. Fruit of the work of Pininfarina and Sir Alec Issigonis, this compact, yet spacious car was launched in 1963 and featured a transverse engine and transmission that send power to the front wheels; suspension was by innovative Hydrolastic, fluid-filled dispenser units. Born during the time when Austin was an important part of the BMC Group, this car was also badged a Morris, as well as MG, Riley and even Wolseley! But it is the Princess Vanden Plas that offered the finest in quality and finish, with walnut wood veneer dashboard and door trims, picnic tables at the back of the front seats and leather for all the seats. And at a price which was more than a Citron DS! The car on offer, a right hand drive version, fitted with a manual gearbox, was purchased in 1987 from the UK, by a Lyon-based collector of Aston Martins. Since then, the car went through a thorough restoration, with the 1300 engine completely rebuilt along with a full overhaul of the bodywork and brand new paint, new carpets by the workshop Baron, well-known in Lyon for their quality execution retaining the nice original upholstery. In 1999 the car was re-registered with a French collector's registration. Treated with great care by an owner who has been faithful to the car's original objective, the car is in remarkably beautiful condition. French registration Estimation 6 000 - 8 000 Sold for 11,914
