Le Plongeon Lors des Jeux de Londres 2012, l'épreuve de plongeon exigera excellence acrobatique et coordination extrême pour plonger d'une hauteur allant jusqu'à 10 mètres au-dessus de l'eau. En bref Site : Centre nautique – Parc olympique Dates : dimanche 29 juillet – samedi 11 août 2012 Épreuves : 8 Athlètes : 136 (68 hommes, 68 femmes) Le plongeon de compétition s'est développé au 18e siècle, quand des gymnastes de Suède et d'Allemagne ont commencé à effectuer des figures acrobatiques pour pénétrer dans l'eau. Avec la natation, la natation synchronisée et le water-polo, le plongeon, sport élégant et néanmoins intense, est l'une des quatre disciplines de natation olympique. Les bases Les huit épreuves olympiques, quatre pour les hommes, quatre pour les femmes, emploient un tremplin placé à 3 m au-dessus de la piscine ou une plate-forme fixe située à une hauteur de 10 m. Les tremplins doivent mesurer au moins 4,8 m de long et 50 centimètres de large, alors que la plateforme doit mesurer au moins 6 m de long et 3 m de large. Les juges attribuent une note sur 10 à chaque plongeon, en fonction du degré de difficulté de l'exercice. Dans les épreuves de plongeon synchronisé, des couples d'athlètes plongent en tandem et sont également évalués sur leur niveau de synchronisation. Jargon En équilibre : un plongeon de plate-forme à partir d'un appui renversé. Plate-forme : un plongeoir fixe mesurant au moins 6 m de long et 3 m de large. Carpé : une position dans laquelle le corps est fléchi au niveau des hanches et les jambes sont tendues. Tremplin : un plongeoir flexible mesurant au moins 4,8 m de long et 50 cm de large. Groupé : une position dans laquelle le plongeur se recroqueville en boule, en tenant ses jambes contre son corps. Le saviez-vous? Le saviez-vous?
