In a fast changing world, European policies aim to support the
development of a smart, sustainable and inclusive economy. Cities
and metropolitan areas are the motors of economic development.
They are also at the frontline when it comes to tackling obstacles to
growth and employment, such as social exclusion and environmental
degradation.
Dans un monde en pleine mutation, les politiques européennes
visent à favoriser un développement économique intelligent,
durable et global. Les villes et zones métropolitaines en sont le
moteur. Elles sont également en première ligne pour affronter les
obstacles à l’emploi et à la croissance, tels que l’exclusion sociale et
la dégradation de l’environnement.
The aim of this conference is to provide participants with critical
perspectives on the future European environment, including
new business models that will help formulate plans to capture
opportunities and prepare for emerging threats.
La conférence a pour objectif d’offrir aux participants des
perspectives critiques pour mieux appréhender le futur de l’Europe,
notamment à travers de nouveaux modèles économiques qui
permettent d’anticiper les risques et de se saisir des opportunités.
In the field of urban mobility in particular, will those European
initiatives and policies help to mitigate the negative climate, noise,
air pollution, congestion and economic impacts of rising urban
transport volumes?

Défis et perspectives stratégiques pour la mobilité

Presentations from different horizons introduce the topic from
different perspectives taking into account the opportunities and
limitations of policy initiatives at a supra-national level.
Issus d’horizons divers et partant de points de vue différents, les
intervenants prendront en compte les opportunités et contraintes
générées par les initiatives politiques supranationales.

Challenges and Solutions from the perspective of Cities
Le point de vue des villes – Défis et solutions
Based on the previous presentations, possible innovative urban
mobility policies/initiatives will be discussed. Particular focus
should be put on the necessary coordination and integration of all
mobility options as this issue is particularly acute in the context of
the development of new mobility options driven by public policy
and market initiatives (shared mobility, travel planners, etc.). How
to adapt the new and emerging mobility landscape to the benefit
of citizens and the economy? How to profile public transport as a
key cog in this new system?
A partir des présentations précédentes, les discussions porteront sur le
moyen de mettre en œuvre des initiatives et des décisions politiques
innovantes pour la mobilité urbaine. Dans le cadre du développement
de nouvelles mobilités par les politiques publiques ou les acteurs privés
du marché (mobilité partagée, calculs d’itinéraires, etc.), l’accent sera
mis sur la nécessité de coordonner toutes ces options. Comment
adapter ces nouvelles mobilités au bénéfice des citoyens et de l’économie ? Comment identifier la place des transports publics dans les
rouages de ce nouveau système ?

Future financing of urban mobility

Le financement futur de la mobilité urbaine
European cities and regions face an increasing devolution of
responsibilities without adequate review of governance and
funding frameworks. At the same time, urban areas have to cope
with growing levels of congestion, pollution/energy consumption,
accidents, GHG emissions due to mobility.
This session should outline possible future organisation models
for urban mobility and financing mechanisms. The challenge is to
deliver the resilient infrastructure and organisation for sustainable
urban transport.
Les villes et régions européennes font aujourd’hui face à des responsabilités croissantes, sans évaluation adéquate du cadre de
financement et de la gouvernance. Dans le même temps, la mobilité
dans les zones urbaines est responsable d’une congestion croissante,
d’une augmentation de la pollution, d’émissions de gaz à effet de
serre, d’une forte consommation d’énergie, et d’un nombre d’accidents important.
Cette session fera le point sur les futurs mécanismes de financement
et modèles d’organisation de la mobilité urbaine. L’enjeu consiste à
proposer un cadre et une organisation capables d’assurer le développement durable des transports publics.
