The Douglas Institute’s Centre d’Imagerie Cérébrale (Douglas CIC) is seeking to hire
an independent and motivated Computational Neuroscientist. The successful
candidate will hold a full-time Assistant Professorship in the Department of
Psychiatry at McGill University, and will be expected to develop an independent
research programme, while collaborating with our multidisciplinary team of
neuroscience researchers at the Douglas Institute.
The Douglas CIC is a new, state-of-the-art imaging centre located in Montréal,
Canada, and affiliated with McGill University. The centre is dedicated to conducting
cutting edge clinical and pre-clinical in-vivo brain imaging research in the area of
mental health. The centre houses a Siemens 3T Magnetom Trio human MRI
scanner, and a 7T Bruker Biospec small animal MRI scanner, as well as labs
specialized in optogenetics, electroencephalography (EEG) and transcranial
magnetic stimulation (TMS).
Required Qualifications:








Ph.D. in Computer Science/Systems Engineering/Neuroscience or related
field
In depth understanding of neurobiological systems
Strong background in mathematics and physics
Expertise in programming and software development [preferably using C/
C++, Linux and Matlab].
Outstanding Publication Record
Expertise in MRI computing (i.e. 3D-2D image registration, model-based
image segmentation, 3D vision and reconstruction from projections)
Expertise in brain MRI signal detection, optimization, processing and analysis
Interest in teaching and mentoring students
Preferred Qualifications:






Experience working with Siemens and/or Bruker MRI systems
Good written and oral communication skills in both French and English
Experience writing grant proposals
Experience working in a pre-clinical research environment
Experience leading projects, interfacing with suppliers and manufacturers
Awareness of MRI research in the field of mental health

Le Centre d’imagerie cérébrale (CIC) de l’Hôpital Douglas est à la recherche d’un(e)
candidat(e) indépendant(e) et motivé(e) pour combler le poste de Scientifique en
analyse computationnelle pour les Neurosciences. Le (la) candidat (e) obtiendra un
poste de professeur(e) adjoint(e) au Département de Psychiatrie de l’Université McGill et
devrait développer un programme de recherche indépendant, ainsi que collaborer avec
l’équipe multidisciplinaire des chercheurs en neurosciences de l’Institut Douglas.
Le CIC est une nouvelle installation de pointe située sur le campus de l’Institut Douglas à
Montréal (Canada) et affilié à l’Université McGill. Les activités du centre sont consacrées
à la recherche clinique et préclinique en imagerie cérébrale dans le domaine de la santé
mentale. Le CIC abrite un appareil d’imagerie par résonance magnétique (IRM) de 3T
(Siemens) pour l’imagerie cérébrale chez l’homme et d’un IRM de 7T (Bruker) pour
l’imagerie chez les petits animaux. De plus, le CIC renferme des laboratoires de
recherche clinique et fondamentale en neuroscience expérimentale dont l’optogénétique,
l’électroencephalographie (EEG) et la stimulation magnétique transcranienne (TMS).
Qualifications requises::








Ph.D. en Informatiques/Génie des systèmes/Neurosciences ou programme
connexe
Forte connaissance en mathématique et physique
Expertise en programmation et développement de logiciels [de préférence par C/
C++, Linux et Matlab]
Bonne compréhension des systèmes neurobiologiques
Très bonne liste de publications
Expertise en computation d’IRM (ex. enlignement d’images 3D-2D,
segmentation, visualisation 3D et reconstruction des projections)
Expertise en détection, optimisation, traitement et analyse des signaux cérébraux
IRM
Intérêt à l’enseignement et à la supervision d’étudiants
Atouts:






Expérience à travailler avec des systèmes IRM Siemens et/ou Bruker
Bonnes compétences en communication orale et écrite en français et anglais
Expérience à écrire des demandes de fonds de recherche
Expérience à travailler dans un environnement de recherche préclinique
Expérience à diriger des projets et à interagir avec des fournisseurs et
manufacturiers
Conscient de la recherche par IRM dans le domaine de santé mentale
