The regular meeting for the Council of the
Village of Rexton was held in the Council
Chambers.

PRESENT: The Mayor, David L. Hanson;
Councillors Albert Corcoran, William Flanagan,
Lisa Warman and Elaine Warren; Office
Manager, Dianne Robertson; Bilingual
Administrative Assistant, Nathalie Elward; Public
Works Director, Brent Goodwin and General
Manager, Ashley Jones.

CALL TO ORDER: The Mayor David L. Hanson
called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA: It was moved by
Lisa Warman and seconded by Albert Corcoran
that the agenda be approved with noted
additions. Motion carried.

appuie, que l’ordre du jour soit accepté avec

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: It was moved by
William Flanagan and seconded by Elaine
Warren that the January 12 and 27 minutes be
approved. Motion carried.

correspondence.

1. Elementary Literacy: Council discussed the
request to “Adopt a School” campaign in
Rexton. It was decided that further information
be gathered for future consideration.

plus de renseignements pour une future
considération.
2. Groupe Savoie Inc.: This forestry company
inquired on any regulations that could affect
their operations or purchases of wood from
local suppliers. It was agreed to update the
requester on our policies, mainly on heavy
trucks traveling in our area.

forestière s’informe aux règlements qui
pourraient affecter leurs opérations ou leurs
achats de bois auprès de fournisseurs

It was moved by William Flanagan and seconded
by Lisa Warman to file the correspondence for
future reference, and actions taken on ones
noted. Motion carried.

Recurring Request for information: It was
reported that the applicant has abandoned his
interest in his repeated requests.

BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

a) Municipal Water Search Progress: It was
mentioned that water levels are looking
promising; no specifics dates. However,
concerns were expressed regarding timeline of
funding.

précisée. Toutefois, certaines
préoccupations quant au calendrier de
financement a été soulevé.
b) Gas Tax Plan: It was moved by Albert
Corcoran and seconded by Elaine Warren that
the current invoice be accepted and payment be
made from the current gas tax account. Motion
carried.

previous motion, the tenant has agreed to our
request.

plan has been submitted; awaiting response.

f) Unsightly Premises: It was moved by Elaine
Warren and seconded by William Flanagan that
alternatives for 6 Centennial East Avenue and 7
King Street be investigated and brought to
Council. Motion carried.

propose, et William Flanagan appuie, que
suite à une enquête, de ramener au Conseil
des solutions pour le lieu à 6, avenue

g) Yves Robichaud: This matter was discussed
under item f) unsightly premises.

seconded by William Flanagan that the lease be
renewed as per the General Manager’s
recommendation. Motion carried.

The Mayor reviewed his report with Council.
Le maire a passé en revue ce rapport avec le
Conseil.
Police: It was reported that the RCMP will be
meeting on February 25th to discuss costs.
Police: On mentionne qu’une réunion aura
lieu le 25 février avec la GRC afin de discuter
certains coûts.
EMO: The Town of Bouctouche have requested
using/adopting our plan, it was agreed that
Mayor Hanson investigate request and discuss
findings of the investigation at our next
meeting.
OMU: La ville de Bouctouche a demandé
d’utiliser/accepter notre plan, il fut convenu
que maire Hanson s’informe sur cette
demande et d’expliquer les faits établis de
l’enquête a notre prochaine réunion.
Kent North Arena Meeting: As members on this
board, interest has been expressed; however,
no commitment has been made as to the Village
of Rexton’s role and financial stand. It was
proposed to gather further information and
meet with neighboring communities to discuss
involvement.
Réunion d’Aréna Kent Nord: En tant que
membre de ce comité, on a fait connaître
notre intérêt; cependant, ne prend aucun
engagement quant au rôle et la position
financière du Village de Rexton. On propose
de recueillir plus de renseignements et se
réunir avec les communautés voisines pour
parler de notre participation.
COUNCILLOR’S REPORT

Finance: It was moved by Albert Corcoran and
seconded by Lisa Warman that Ashley Jones, the
General Manager, complete an application form
as a new holder for an Advance Savings credit
card on behalf of the municipal business
conducted. Motion carried.
Finance: Albert Corcoran propose, et Lisa
Warman appuie, qu’Ashley Jones, la
directrice générale, remplie un formulaire de
demande pour une nouvelle carte de crédit
d’Advance Savings pour la conduite des
affaires municipal. Proposition adoptée.
NB Trails: Following an invitation to the
Miramichi Local Trail Sponsor Meeting on
February 18th, Councillor Flanagan confirmed his
plans to attend.
Sentiers N.-B.: Suite à une invitation à la
réunion des commanditaires de sentiers
locaux à Miramichi pour le 18 février,
conseiller Flanagan a confirmé son intention
d’y participer.

Rexton Health Care Foundation: As a result of
fundraising initiatives, Councillor Warren
provided a list of donations that were made
over the years.

a) Canadian Public Sector Training: It was
moved by Elaine Warren and seconded by
Albert Corcoran that the General Manager
attends this training held on April 18th to keep
up on the continuous improvement principles in
government. Motion carried.

The date of the next Regular Council meeting
will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at
7 p.m.

Conseil se tiendra le mardi 8 mars 2016 à
19h00.
