The comedy creeps in as Aston takes in the homeless Davies in an act of kindness. A wacky cat-andmouse game ensues when Davies is caught between Aston’s nonchalant charity and Mick’s psychopathic tendencies. In The Caretaker, Pinter asks... will the cat catch the mouse? Or can mouse catch cat? The Caretaker plays at TNC Theatre November 11-14, and 18-21. The volunteers work is essential but the volunteers also get the opportunity to receive a cross cultural experience as they live and work in Chilean communities. Modeled after a concept developed in Kingston at CFRC radio station, it proposes a full auditory exploration of the magic of radio. This live radio transmission art show (or tell...) takes the audience inside Radioland - inside the magic sound box - highlighting the many talents of CKUT, exploring the limits of aural imagination and indulging in the intimacy of sound. Amateur and veteran sound-makers will transform the 19th century Anglican Church. The plan: create an enclosed area with large swaths of fabric, turn off the lights...and make radio. The audience is inside the box, the performers are on the outside. Some of the sounds will be mixed through a quadrophonic speaker system and some will use the natural acoustics of the space, inviting our listeners to enjoy the spatial qualities of voices, instruments, field recordings and electronics. The evening will include musical soundscapes, short stories, exploratory sonic installations and poetry, creating a series of sound art that will rest your eyes and tickle your ears. The performance will also broadcast over the airwaves of CKUT 90.3FM (or www.ckut.ca), reaching the ears of unsuspecting audience members in their cars, bedrooms, living rooms and bathtubs. Inspirée d’un concept développé à Kingston, à la station radio CFRC, la boîte de musique magique propose une exploration auditoire complète de la magie de la radio. Cette transmission radio live d’un spectacle artistique (ou narratif...) mène le public à l’intérieur du monde de la radio – à l’intérieur de la boîte de musique magique – soulignant les nombreux talents de CKUT, explorant les limites de l’imagination oral et se livrant à l’intimité du son. ème siècle. Le Des producteurs de son, amateurs et vétérans, transformeront cette église anglicane du 19 plan : créer une aire close avec de gros lambeaux de tissus, éteindre les lumières... et faire de la radio. Le public est à l’intérieur de la boîte, les artistes sont à l’extérieur. Certains des sons seront mixés à travers un système de haut-parleurs quadriphoniques et certains utiliseront les acoustiques naturelles de la place, invitant notre public à profiter de la qualité spatiale des voix, des instruments, et des enregistrements et électroniques du champ sonore. La soirée inclura des escapades musicales, de courtes histoires, des installations soniques exploratoires et de la poésie, créant une série de sons qui laisseront reposer vos yeux tandis qu’ils engageront vos oreilles. Cette performance sera aussi diffusées sur les ondes de CKUT 90.3FM (ou www.ckut.ca), atteignant les oreilles d’un public non-expectant dans leur voitures, chambres, salons, et baignoires.
