International premiere Saving Face Oscarwinning documentary Saving Face premiered internationally on 26 March during an event organised by the Prince Claus Fund at the Movies that Matter Festival. After an introduction by the film makers, Daniel Junge and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the documentary was screened to an audience of 300 guests, including the ambassador of Pakistan to the Netherlands, HE Mr. Ahmad Chaudry. The screening was followed by a Q&A with both filmmakers and NGO?s working with acid survivors, led by Christa Mei ndersma ? director of the Prince Claus Fund. Saving Face chronicles the horrible attacks with acid on women in Pakistan. The screening made a huge impression on the audience. However, the livid Q&A which followed the screening brought the hope that change can be realised. NGO?s like Acid Survivors Foundation-Pakistan, Islamic Help and Acid Survivors Trust International experience tremendous result. The Oscar for Saving Face brings the issue world-wide attention. The Prince Claus Fund therefore felt the need to support this by organising the international premiere during the Movies that Matter Festival. The Prince Claus Fund supported Obaid-Chinoy on several occasions, for example the Dialogue with Pakistan, organised by theCitizens Archive of Pakistan (co-founded by O baid-Chinoy). Besides that, she was one of the guests in the 2011 Talkshow 'Who Needs Beauty' of the Prince Claus Fund and talked about the creation of Saving Face, stating: 'I don?t think I would make documentary films, if I didn?t feel that I could affect some sort of c hange'. Change is something where Obaid-Chinoy works for. As the first Pakistani woman to receive an Oscar, Obaid-Chinoy said during her acceptance speech: 'All the women in Pakistan working for change, don't give up on your dreams, this is for you'. Therefore she just recently received one the highest civilian awards in Pakistan, the Hilal-i-Imtiaz.
