BIOGRAPHY AND STATEMENT Bruno Romeda, “I love seeing Romeda's sculptures come to life. He gleans scraps of metal, bits of card board, pieces of wreckage, anything from anywhere, piling these up chaotically his atelier. Then he shapes and assembles them, in line with a secret sense of order, endowing them with a delicate form, sensuality and soul, in preparation for their metamorphosis into bronze. Once in contact with acid, the bronze adopts various hues, and over time, patina will also play its role. These sculptures, both architectural and geometric in their essence, frame a site and capture a reflection of landscape. Shapes that are strangely simple and primitive - I love their precision and discreet presence, which calls more on our imagination than on our powers of understanding” -Jean-Michel Wilmotte For many years, Bruno Romeda, has focused on the most simple, absolute geometric shapes - the square, the circle, and the triangle. From time to time, he will undertake variations on his chosen repertory of shapes - a circle warps into an ellipse or is truncated to an arc; a square is stretched out into a long rectangle. By starting with elemental shapes and giving form to each individual work, it is the directness with which he works, and yet with infinite subtlety, that gives his sculpture such authority and at the same time makes it so seductive.
