How to tell your age or someone else's age :
In English, we say our ages using the verb “to
be.” In other words, we say, “I am 13 years old.”
or “I am 25 years old.” In French, they use the
verb, “to have” to communicate their ages. In
other words, translated literally, A French person
would say, “I have 13 years” or “I have 25
years.”
So, before you can know how to say someone's
age, you need to know how to conjugate the verb
“to have” in French. (avoir)
Avoir = to have
J'ai= I have
Nous avons = We have
Tu as = You have
Vous avez = You have
Il/Elle a= He/She has Ils/Elles ont = They have
Here's how you ask someone their age:
Question: Tu as quel âge?
