This property i s l o c a t e d a t t h e head of Brian Boru Creek,
11 miles south of New Hazelton. The c r e e k has two f o r k s which
begin i n g l a c i a l c i r q u e s o r b a s i n s . These have been known
r e s p e c t i v e l y a s t h e North-and South b a s i n s and a r e s e p a r a t e d
by a long hogsback t h a t extends westward from Brian Boru peak.
The Brian Boru Nos. 1 & 2 claims (Lots 607-608) a r e l o c a t e d a t
about t h e 5,000 f o o t e l e v a t i o n on t h e n o r t h s i d e of t h e North
b a s i n . Other claims were s t a k e d a c r o s s t h e hogsback and down
i n t o t h e South b a s i n .
The property was l o c a t e d probably i n 1914 o r 1915 and t h e
two claims were Crown-granted i n 1917 t o John Creagh. I n 1926
t h e property c o n s i s t e d of 9 claims, i n c l u d i n g t h e 2 Crowng r a n t s , owned by Creagh and Dunbar. Exploration work was done
i n open c u t s and s h o r t a d i t s . The e a r l y work was done on t h e
Crown-grants; l a t e r work was apparently confined t o t h e South
b a s i n s i d e of t h e hogsback. L i t t l e work was done a f t e r t h e
l a t e 1920's. M r . Creagh was a p a r t owner u n t i l h i s death. I n
t h e 1950's t h e property was held by J. Arenseneau and Martha

DESCRIPTION OF DEPOSIT/DESCRlPTlON D U GISEMENT
The showings a r e a l l n e a r t h e c o n t a c t of t h e Red Rose and
Brian Boru formations of t h e Hazelton group of Upper J u r a s s i c
and Lower Cretaceous age. The underlying sandstone, a r g i l l i t e s , greywackes, and v o l c a n i c s s t r i k e northward and d i p about
15" eastward. Between 5,000 f e e t and 5,450 f e e t e l e v a t i o n a
number of small v e i n s a r e exposed i n p i t s , trenches, and small
a d i t s . The v e i n s a r e c h i e f l y 30 t o 60 f e e t long-and 3 t o 1 2
i n c h e s wide; they s t r i k e northeastward and d i p 45 t o 65'
northwestward. They c o n s i s t almost e n t i r e l y of b l a c k sphaleri t e w i t h some p y r i t e , p y r r h o t i t e , galena, c h a l c o p y r i t e , and
q u a r t z . They apparently c o n t a i n l i t t l e gold o r s i l v e r .
