Modular Dimensions in Flame Cutting
The rugged and solid portal machine
is available in three different sizes
(2,500, 3,000 and 3,500 mm).
The base rail length can be extended
by 1,000 mm increments up to
18,000 mm so the machine can
be customized for both standard and
non-standard plate dimensions.
The machine consists of a solid,
reinforced main beam which ensures
perfect stiffness over the entire
machine width.
One of the two lateral panels is
mounted below the cutting table
height. This allows for ease of loading
and unloading of the table with forklift trucks and minimizes risk of collision with the machine.

Various ESAB plasma cutting systems
for material thicknesses of up to 30 mm
are available for cutting unalloyed steel,
stainless steel or aluminum.
The precise setting of the cutting
torch height is achieved by means
of an initial height sensing and
maintained by an arc voltage height
control during the cutting process.
This ensures optimum cutting quality
at all times.
Oxy-fuel cutting
COMBIREX CXL-P can be fitted with
up to four oxy-fuel cutting torches for
processing unalloyed steel plates with
thicknesses of up to 150 mm.
Each tool carriage is provided with
a reliable, automatic 230 Volt ignition
device. Solenoid valves on the
carriages allow for automatic piercing.
Sophisticated Mechanical Design
Apart from a transverse drive motor
with precision rack and pinion gear,
COMBIREX CXL-P features backlashfree gears and drives allowing
for high positioning rates of up to
20,000 mm / min.
The ESAB collision protection system
will immediately stop the cutting
process and shutdown the machine
in case of disorder.
The linear guiding with AC motors
ensures accurate travel of the tool
carriage as well as extraordinary
acceleration values. Sophisticated
design and precise workmanship
reduces maintenance expense and
ensures a long mechanical service life.
For cutting with several torches,
up to four tool carriages are attached
to a zero-backlash steel band which –
contrary to conventional steel ropes –
is not susceptible to slag deposits.
The specialized rapid-action coupling
allows for efficient manual positioning
of the tool carriages and mirror-inverted cutting.
Numerical Control System
Whether fitted with oxy-fuel cutting
or plasma torches – the decisive
advantage of COMBIREX CXL-P
is its high flexibility.
All processes may be controlled
directly via the CNC system. Extensive control functions, numerous available interfaces and an integrated cutting data base allow for an optimum
degree of reliable reproducible quality.
This results in low cost with high
productivity.
The cutting height is determined by
a capacitive ring which aids precise,
straight cutting.
