Consultation on the proposals for the Parc Adfer Energy Recovery Facility
Wheelabrator has been appointed as Preferred Bidder by the North Wales Residual Waste Treatment Project
(NWRWTP) and is now progressing with plans to seek approval to build and operate an Energy Recovery Facility on a
ten acre site next to the Shotton Paper Mill on the Deeside Industrial Park.
We have called the facility Parc Adfer
to reflect its role in recovering energy
from non-recyclable residual waste that
would otherwise be sent to landfill.
We plan to submit a planning
application to Flintshire County
Council in August. Before we do so,
we are asking surrounding communities
to give us feedback on our proposals,
specifically:
How the design of the project has
addressed key issues and concerns
How we can work with communities as
a good neighbour and provide benefits
beyond waste management and
energy generation
How we communicate as the project
moves forward to keep communities
and potential suppliers informed of
key stages, including recruitment and
training opportunities
Thoughts on how it will create local
jobs, supplier opportunities and
economic benefits
This Feedback Form provides you with
an opportunity to provide us with your
views. We will listen to your views and
where appropriate incorporate
comments and suggestions into our
planning application.
It is important to note that this
consultation is NOT intended to
invite feedback on:
–The need case for an Energy
Recovery Facility or choice of
the site
–The validity of the technology
we are proposing
–The waste management strategies
of the five Partner Councils
(Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd,
Isle of Anglesey and Flintshire)
–Issues relating to domestic
waste collection
Flintshire County Council, as the Local
Planning Authority will undertake its
own public consultation on our planning
application once submitted.

to 11th July.
