/Aug 16/asbarez.com/
Turkish President Abdullah Gul addresses the Turkic summit
GABALA, Azerbaijan-Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Friday that he
wishes one day the summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking
would be held in Nagorno-Karabakh, reported the APA news agency.
"I wish the summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States to
be held in Nagorno Karabakh in future," said Gul who was addressing the
summit currently taking place in the northern Azeri city.
Gul said that Turkey will make every effort to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict, adding that Turkey has always supported Azerbaijan on this issue
and will continue to do so in the future.
"One of the main problems of the Turkic world is the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict. Occupation of 20 per cent of Azerbaijani territory is unacceptable.
Therefore, the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States supports an
early resolution of this conflict," Gul said, according to the Trend news
agency.
The summit, being attended by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev,
President of Turkey Abdullah Gul, President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek
Atambayev and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, is the third of its
kind to be held in recent years.
At the conclusion of the summit, participants issued a declaration pledging
an end to the Karabakh conflict.
In the joint declaration the parties reiterated the importance they attach
to the peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict, which is one of the main obstacles to lasting stability and
regional cooperation on the basis of sovereignty, territorial integrity and
inviolability of borders of Azerbaijan.
The parties emphasized the aim at strengthening political and economic
security of the States in accordance with the principles of sovereignty,
territorial integrity and inviolability of borders, non-interference in
internal affairs.
ESCALATION OF TENSION AROUND KARABAKH NOT IN TURKEY'S BEST
INTERESTS - RUSSIAN ANALYST
/Aug 17/NEWS.am/
A new, real layout of forces around Nagorno-Karabakh is not observed,
Russian political scientist Alexander Karavayev told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
In his words, the whole world favors a pacific settlement to the NagornoKarabakh conflict.
"Overall, these observable facts can be called diplomatic ethics,"
Karavayev added.
The analyst noted that Turkish President Abdullah Gul's recent statements
in connection with Nagorno-Karabakh continue the already-indicated path of
the political elite of the third countries, which tend to see solely a
political scenario for conflict resolution.
The Russian political scientist expressed a view that the escalation of
tension around Nagorno-Karabakh is not in Turkey's best interests.
As for the Turkish president's statement of the need for resolving the
Karabakh issue as soon as possible, Alexander Karavayev argued:
"Some may see military scenario theses, but I personally see a peaceful
rhetoric in this. By voicing its view out loud, [official] Ankara is trying
to hint the need for [official] Yerevan to make concessions."
TURKEY USES AZERBAIJANI RHETORIC IN KARABAKH ISSUE TURKOLOGIST
/Aug 17/NEWS.am/

YEREVAN. - The statements by Turkey's President Abdullah Gul and FM Ahmet
Davutoglu must be observed as a new manifestation of the geopolitical
rivalry between Turkey and Russia.
Armenia's National Academy of Sciences Institute of Orientology Director,
turkologist Ruben Safrastyan told the above-said toArmenian News-NEWS.am.
Safrastyan reflected on the statements that were made during the Cooperation
Council of Turkic Speaking States summit, which was convened in Azerbaijan.
"Turkey uses this event to show that it has strong positions in the South
Caucasus, especially in Azerbaijan. We need to pay attention to the
expression of 'Karabakh's liberation.' That is, Turkey would assist
Azerbaijan when 'liberating Karabakh,'" the turkologist noted.
Ruben Safrastyan expressed a view that the aforesaid is a very perilous
statement because it shows that official Ankara does not wish to assume the
role of a mediator, but rather uses the Azerbaijani rhetoric toward
resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

fighting alongside the gunmen in Syria, adding that the flow of foreign

The sources stressed that the large numbers of the "jihadists" in Syria is
the most urgent challenge facing the USA and the other countries which

PMO counter-terrorism bureau issues advisory for Israelis, Jews ahead og
upcoming Rosh Hashana and Succot holidays.

The upcoming Rosh Hashana and Succot holidays are not only a time for
apples, honey and temporary booths, but also when terrorists will try to
2
kill Jews abroad, according to a travel advisory issued by the Prime
Minister Office's counter-terrorism bureau on Monday.
The advisory, issued every year before the High Holidays and Pessah when
Israelis travel abroad in droves, grouped Turkey together with Azerbaijan,
Nigeria and Kenya as countries where there are continuous potential
threats, and where non-essential travel should be avoided.
`The upcoming holidays, Rosha Hashana (September 5-6) and Succot (September
19-27) are likely to be a target for terrorist organizations to carry out
attacks against Israel and Jewish targets abroad,' the advisory said.
Likewise, the advisory read, the anniversary of the attack on the World
Trade Center in New York on September 11 is also likely to be a preferred
date by al-Qaeda and other global Jihad groups to carry out attacks.
Egypt and Jordan are listed as countries where there is a "basic" level of
a concrete threat, and which should be avoided. The warning against travel
to Sinai, however, is even higher, the advisory being to "avoid all visits
and to leave the region immediately."
Other areas with that urgent classification include parts of southern
Thailand and the southern Philippines, eastern Senegal, the Kashmir region
in northern India, northern Nigeria, parts of Kenya and Chechnya.
Israelis and Jews are also advised to leave Sudan, Somalia and Afghanistan
immediately; to leave Algeria, Djibouti, Mauritania, Libya, Tunisia,
Indonesia, Burkina Faso, the Ivory Coast, Togo, Mali, Malaysia and Pakistan
as soon as possible, and to not include the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar,
Morocco, Oman in their holiday travel plans.
Travel to six countries - Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and
Yemen - is illegal. Of the other 187 countries in the world where Israelis
are able to travel, advisories are in effect for 27 of them, and another
advisories for certain regions of eight other countries.
The travel advisory to Turkey is not new, and has been in effect since
shortly after the Mavi Marmara incident in 2010. In March 2012 this warning
was upgraded because of information that terrorists were planning an attack
on Israeli and Jewish targets in Turkey and Israelis were advised to
refrain from all travel there. That alert was downgraded a short time later
to an advisory to refrain from `non-essential' travel.
The advisory said Hezbollah was still trying to avenge the 2008 killing of
Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyeh, and Iran sought to avenge the killing
of three nuclear scientists.
TV boycott in Egypt all Turkish dramas
/Aug 19/Hurriyet Daily News, Turkey/ http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/tvboycott-in-egypt-all-turkish-dramas.aspx?pageID=238&nID=52826&NewsCatID=381
Several Egyptian TV channels have launched a boycott of Turkish drama
series, in a protest against Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan's
stance on the violent unrest in the populous Arab state, according to Al
Arabiya.net.
Erdoðan, Turkey's Prime Minister, urged the U.N. Security Council to
intervene after the popularly backed military ousted Islamist President
Mohammed Morsi. On August 17, Erdoðan lashed out at the lack of international
response on Egypt, saying organizations including the U.N. and EU should be
ashamed of their inaction.
That drew the scorn of Egypt's Cinema Syndicate and The Egyptian Creativity
Front - a group of writers, film makers, journalists as well as scientists
- which urged others to stop airing Turkish TV soaps, which have become
widely popular in the Arab world. A number of TV channels, including AlHayat, Al-Nahar, and Al-Kahera Wal Nas, responded to the call by boycotting
the soaps.
Al-Hayat TV channel informed its viewers that there would not be any
Turkish drama TV series shown due to Erdoðan's stance.
The owner of Al-Kahera Wal Nas, Tarek Nour, told Al Arabiya that in spite
of the financial losses that they may face, they were keen to convey a
message of protest to Turkey. Turkish dramas are said to attract healthy
3
advertising rates on his channel due to the high viewership they receive.
Nour expressed his discomfort over Turkey's intervention in Egypt's
internal affairs, describing Ankara's position on the situation as "narrow
minded." While Turkish soaps are usually produced in privately owned
studios unrelated to the government, the boycott could put some pressure on
Ankara, said Nour.
He highlighted how the soaps have helped Turkey lure more tourists from
Egypt and the region, adding that the boycott would result in "huge losses"
for Turkey.

COUNTRYSIDE

US SLAMS ERDOGAN OVER ISRAEL, EGYPT REMARKS
/Aug 21/Tert.am/
The United States condemned comments by Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip
Erdogan accusing Israel of having a hand in the Egyptian military's
4
overthrow of president Mohamed Mursi, Reuters reported, citing a White
House spokesman.
"We strongly condemn the statements that were made by Prime Minister
Erdogan today. Suggesting that Israel is somehow responsible for recent
events in Egypt is offensive, unsubstantiated, and wrong," White House
spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters in a briefing.
Earlier on Tuesday, Erdogan told provincial leaders of his AK Party: "What
do they say in Egypt? Democracy is not the ballot box. What is behind it?
Israel. We have in our hands documentation."
Israel's Ex Foreign Minister Calls Erdogan Nazi Propagandist
Goebbels' Successor
/Aug 22/asbarez.com/
http:// 113112/knesset-leader-calls-erdogan-nazi-propagandist-goebbelssuccessor/
TEL AVIV - Israel's former foreign minister Avigdor Liberman told the
Jerusalem Poston Wednesday that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip
Erdogan's hateful and incitement filled words against Israel is reminiscent
of Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.
Liberman, who currently the head of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and
Defense Committee spurned the restraint demonstrated by the Prime
Minister's Office and the Foreign Ministry toward Erdogan's charge Tuesday
that Israel was behind the downfall of deposed Egyptian president Mohamed
Morsi.
`Everyone who heard Erdogan's words full of hate and incitement understand
without a doubt that we are talking about the successor to Goebbels' the
Dreyfus trial, and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, he said as reported
by JPost.
Liberman, who opposed any type of apology to Turkey over the 2010 Mavi
Marmara affair, said that those who `attacked' him and his party for that
position should `draw the conclusions and do some soul searching.'
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu apologized to Erdgoan in March – at US
President Barack Obama's behest - for operational errors that may have led
to loss of life on the ship that tried to break the naval blockade of Gaza
in 2010.
Erdogan, speaking at a meeting of his AK Party in Ankara on Tuesday
referred to the developments in Egypt and said, `Who is behind [Morsi's
ouster]? There is Israel. We have [a] document in our hands.'
The document, it emerged, was a video of a discussion held at Tel Aviv
University on the Arab Spring in June 2011 between Tzipi Livni, then the
head of the opposition and today the Justice Minister, and French-Jewish
intellectual Bernard-Henri Lévy.
Lévy, during the symposium, said, `If the Muslim Brotherhood arrives in
Egypt, I will not say democracy wants it, so let democracy progress. Of
course not. Democracy, again, is not only elections, it is also values.'
TURKEY WILL CONTINUE TO INTERFERE IN EGYPT'S INTERNAL AFFAIRS
- EXPERT
/Aug 23/NEWS.am/
YEREVAN. - Turkey's response to a tweet posted on behalf of interim
president of Egypt proves that Armenian Genocide is an obstacle for Turkey,
analyst said.
Earlier a tweet posted on behalf of interim president of Egypt Adly Mansour
was spread in media.
Turkish authorities are interested in Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, since
this is an Islamist political party, and this meets the requirements of
Turkey's foreign policy, expert on Arabic studies Sargis Grigoryan noted.
"For Turkey, Muslim Brotherhood is quite predictable political power that
can be manipulated by Turkey. Ankara will continue to interfere in the
internal affairs of Egypt, despite the fact that the situation is out of
control," Grigoryan told reporters on Friday.
5
Referring to the political situation in Egypt, the expert predicted that
Muslim Brotherhood will try to regain power, but will do so from the
underground.
At the same time Grigoryan noted that at the moment, inter-religious
problems in the country are not advantages to the Muslim Brotherhood.
For this reason, the Armenian community has not suffered a significant
loss. However, it is possible that in a while situation may change not in
favor of religious minorities.

UEFA tomorrow will decide in an emergency meeting whether Fenerbahçe, which
was to play in the Europa League after losing on aggregate last night to
Arsenal in the playoff round, will be prevented from playing on the
European stage for the rest of this season.
`UEFA welcomes today's decisions of the Court of Arbitration for Sport
(CAS) rejecting the appeals made by Fenerbahçe SK and FC Metalist Kharkiv

L'ENTREPRISE NATIONALE D'ENERGIE EMIRATIE TAQA POURRAIT

Erdogan to Security Forces: Focus on NGOs Supporting Gezi Park
Protesters
/Aug 31/english.farsnews.com/
TEHRAN (FNA)- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has ordered his
security forces to focus on those non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
that played an active role in his country's street protests in a bid to
disclose their connections with European and American intelligence
agencies.
`The Turkish prime minister made the remarks in a meeting on August 13
attended by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Interior Minister Muammer
Guler, National Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz, and Head of the Turkish
National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Hakan Fidan," one of the aides
present at the meeting told FNA on Saturday.
"Erdogan also called on his security forces to monitor the activities of
the groups, financial institutes and banks which provided financial support
for the protesters during Istanbul's Gezi Park protests," he added.
Turkey has been the scene of political unrests in recent months due to the
government's suppression of the people.
The Gezi Park demonstrations began in Turkey's biggest city, Istanbul, as a
peaceful sit-in aiming to preserve the park on May 31 but soon snowballed
into a national movement against Erdogan's leadership due to the
government's harsh crackdown.
Clashes between police and protesters across the country killed at least
five people, including a policeman, and injured some 5,000.
