Beazley to grow French reinsurance business with hire of Benoit Goureau Paris, 2 November, 2015 Leading specialist insurer Beazley has appointed Benoit Goureau as treaty underwriter for the French reinsurance market, expanding Beazley’s local product range. Mr Goureau has over 13 years’ experience in the French market, 10 of which as a client manager, most recently with Swiss Re. He will be based in Beazley's Paris office. This appointment is the latest in a series that has seen the expansion of Beazley’s underwriting presence in France. Beazley has been underwriting French risks for over a decade and in 2006 commenced an on-going programme of investment in France with the opening of an office in Paris. This commitment was further strengthened in 2012 with the expansion of the product offering to bring a broad range of Beazley’s product lines to the French market. Patrick Hartigan, head of Beazley’s global treaty reinsurance team, said: “The French market offers attractive growth opportunities as we continue to diversify our business internationally. Wherever we do business, our focus is on building strong, long term relationships with our cedents. I am delighted that we have attracted an underwriter of Benoit’s experience and calibre to lead our business in Paris.” Julia Popper, head of Beazley’s French business, said: “Talented and experienced underwriters able to provide tailored solutions for our brokers and clients are key to the Beazley value proposition. Benoit exemplifies this approach as it relates to our treaty reinsurance business. He should fit in very well.”
