The programme is designed to present a robust learning environment for healthcare professionals. It will provide an insight on the current state of the science regarding schizophrenia, an overview of atypical antipsychotics, including data on lurasidone, and will also cover current treatment guidelines. We will be utilising intuitively designed presentations that will ensure that the day is fully interactive. We will also work through some interesting case studies together that will stimulate discussion and help enhance your personal skills and decision-making capabilities. Stahl has trained in three specialties: internal medicine at the University of Chicago; neurology at the University of California in San Francisco; and psychiatry at Stanford University. He is board certified in psychiatry. Dr. Stahl currently serves as editor-in-chief of CNS Spectrums. He is also associate editor of Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, is former clinical field editor for the International Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology and is on numerous editorial boards of other leading journals including the ACNP’s (American College of Neuropsychopharmacology) journal Neuropsychopharmacology. Author of over 500 articles and chapters, and more than 1600 scientific presentations and abstracts, Dr. Stahl is an internationally recognised clinician, researcher and teacher in psychiatry with subspecialty expertise in psychopharmacology. Dr. Stahl has edited ten books and written 31 others, including the best-selling and award-winning textbook, Stahl’s Essential Psychopharmacology. Dr. Stahl serves as a fellow of the ACNP, the British Association of Psychopharmacology and the CINP (International College of Neuropsychopharmacology), where he was formerly vice president. He also serves on numerous medical and scientific advisory boards for the pharmaceutical industry, the biotechnology and medical information industry and various nonprofit and public service organisations, including appointment by the State of California as current Chair of the Medi-Cal Oversight Board for Medicines (Drug Utilization Review Board). He has been awarded: •the CINP Lundbeck Foundation Award in Education •the British Medical Association’s Book of the Year Award •the A.E. Bennett Award of the Society of Biological Psychiatry • the American Psychiatric Association/San Diego Psychiatric Society Education Award. Prescribing information Latuda 40 mg/80 mg comprimés filmés Composition: Principe actif: Lurasidoni hydrochloridum. Indications: Pour le traitement de patients atteints de schizophrénie. Posologie: Adultes: dose initiale recommandée: 40 mg une fois par jour. Une dose initiale de titration n’est pas nécessaire. L’efficacité de la lurasidone a été démontrée dans une fourchette de doses comprise entre 40 mg/jour et 160 mg/jour. Latuda doit être pris avec un repas (au moins 350 calories). Utilisation en pédiatrie: La sécurité et l’efficacité n’ont pas été démontrées chez les enfants et les adolescents. Instructions spéciales pour la posologie: La dose de Latuda ne doit pas dépasser 40 mg/jour chez les patients présentant une insuffisance rénale modérée et sévère ou hépatique modérée et sévère. Contre-indications: Hypersensibilité connue au chlorhydrate de lurasidone ou à l’un des composants de la formulation. L’utilisation de Latuda avec des inhibiteurs puissants du CYP3A4 (p.ex. le kétoconazole) et des inducteurs puissants du CYP3A4 (p.ex. la rifampicine) est contre-indiquée. Mises en garde et précautions: Mortalité accrue chez les patients âgés atteints de psychose associée à une démence et traités par des antipsychotiques atypiques similaires. Syndrome malin des neuroleptiques. Réactions d’hypersensibilité. Dystonie. Dyskinésie tardive. Hyperglycémie et diabète sucré ont été rapportés chez des patients traités par des antipsychotiques atypiques. Une dyslipidémie a été rapportée chez des patients traités par des antipsychotiques atypiques. Prise de poids: Dans les études de courte durée 4,8% des patients ont présenté une prise de poids >7% vs 3,3% dans le groupe placebo. Hyperprolactinémie: Dans les études de courte durée, augmentation du taux de prolactine (≥ 5× LSN) de 2.8% sous Latuda contre 1,0% sous placebo. Des cas de leucopénie, neutropénie et agranulocytose ont été rapportés en association avec d›autres médicaments de cette classe. Hypotension orthostatique et syncope. Allongement de l›intervalle QTc: Comme avec les autres antipsychotiques, la prudence est recommandée lors de la prescription de Latuda à des patients présentant des maladies cardiovasculaires connues ou des antécédents familiaux d›allongement de l›intervalle QT. Des convulsions sont survenues chez 0,13% (2/1508) des patients traités par Latuda contre 0,28% (2/708) des patients sous placebo. Suicide: Le risque de tentative de suicide est inhérent aux maladies psychotiques. Le traitement pharmacologique doit toujours s›accompagner d›une surveillance étroite des patients à haut risque. Dysphagie. Interactions: La prudence s’impose lors de son utilisation en association avec des médicaments à action centrale et avec l’alcool. Latuda ne doit pas être utilisé en association avec des inhibiteurs ou inducteurs puissants de CYP3A4. Aucun ajustement de la dose de digoxine et de midazolam n’est nécessaire en cas d’administration concomitante avec Latuda. Pour plus d’informations, voir l’information professionelle. Grossesse: Les patientes doivent être informées de la nécessité de contacter leur médecin si elles tombent enceintes ou prévoient une grossesse pendant le traitement par Latuda. Allaitement: L’allaitement ne peut être envisagé que si le bénéfice potentiel justifie le risque potentiel pour le nourrisson. Effets indésirables: Les effets indésirables les plus fréquemment observés (incidence ≥ 5% et au moins deux fois plus élevée que sous placebo) ont été somnolence, akathisie, nausées, parkinsonisme et agitation. Effets indésirable fréquents (≥ 1% à 10%) sont: diminution de l’appétit, agitation, anxiété, insomnie, impatience, akathisie, vertiges, dystonie, parkinsonisme, somnolence, vision floue, tachycardie, douleurs abdominales, diarrhée, dyspepsie, nausées, hypersalivation, hypersécrétion, vomissements, éruption cutanée, prurit, dorsalgie, augmentation du taux de CPK.
