La Chapelle Musicale inaugure !
De nieuwe Muziekkapel wordt ingeluid!
La saison 15-16 sera pour la Chapelle Musicale une nouvelle page de son histoire. Après l’inauguration
de nouvelles infrastructures en janvier dernier, quelques mois pour habituer nos artistes, jeunes et moins
jeunes à ce nouvel outil, la Chapelle est aujourd’hui en ordre de marche pour accueillir un plus large public
sur son site de Waterloo :
Met het seizoen 15-16 begint de Muziekkapel aan een nieuwe bladzijde in haar geschiedenis. Na de officiële
inhuldiging van de nieuwe infrastructuur in januari jl., kregen onze artiesten, jongeren en meer gevestigde
namen, enkele maanden om zich deze nieuwe werkomgeving eigen te maken. Nu is de Kapel volledig operationeel om een ruimer publiek te onthalen op haar site in Waterloo:
• Le 21 septembre, avec ses partenaires, mécènes et le public, la Chapelle lancera son nouveau cycle de
concerts MuCH Music, une saison de plus de 60 concerts publics dans la nouvelle salle de concerts de la
Chapelle. Tout au long de la saison, les partenaires, mécènes, abonnés ou simples spectateurs pourront
découvrir de nombreuses surprises : concerts de jeunes solistes en résidence, de leurs invités, d’artistes
associés, d’ensembles de musique de chambre, d’ensembles orchestraux et de quelques grands concerts de
prestige avec des invités de marque.
• Op 21 september lanceert de Kapel met partners, mecenassen en publiek haar nieuwe concertcyclus
‘MuCH Music’, een seizoen met meer dan 60 publieke concerten in de nieuwe concertzaal van de Kapel. Gedurende het hele seizoen kunnen partners, mecenassen, abonnees of gewone toeschouwers talloze mooie
ontdekkingen beleven: concerten met de jonge solisten in residentie, hun gasten, partnerartiesten, kamermuziek- of orkestensembles, alsook enkele belangrijke prestigieuze concerten met grote namen.
• Le 1er octobre sera lancé officiellement le tout nouveau “Cercle Chapel”, un lieu de rencontre entre le
monde du business et de la culture, un cercle différent, culturel et contemporain, la Chapelle Musicale ajoutant à sa démarche artistique et culturelle une volonté d’intermédiation et d’acteur du monde économique.
• Op 1 oktober wordt de ‘Cercle Chapel’ officieel ingehuldigd, een ontmoetingsplaats voor de bedrijfs- én
cultuurwereld, een andere club, cultureel en hedendaags, waarbij de Muziekkapel naast haar huidige artistieke en culturele elan de rol van bemiddelaar en speler binnen de bedrijfswereld kan opnemen.
Bovendien zet de Kapel haar kernactiviteiten inzake muziekoverdracht voort:
Par ailleurs, la Chapelle poursuit ses activités principales autour du travail de la transmission de la musique :
• Le 5 octobre débutera officiellement la rentrée académique avec ses six disciplines actuelles (piano, violon, alto, violoncelle, musique de chambre et chant) et une soixantaine de jeunes en résidence.
• Op 5 oktober gaat het nieuwe academiejaar officieel van start, met de zes disciplines aangeboden in de
Kapel (piano, viool, altviool, cello, kamermuziek en zang) en een zestigtal jongeren in residentie.
• Music Chapel on Tour passera notamment par le Japon avec les concertis de Beethoven et une tournée
de récitals Partitura avec Maria João Pires, l’Italie et Venise au Palazetto Bru Zane, le festival du Vexin, les
premiers concerts du réseau de La Belle Saison (France), une série de concerts avec l’Orchestre de Bienne
en Suisse et Gary Hoffman et bien sûr le festival de Wallonie ou encore Bozar en Belgique.
• ‘Music Chapel on Tour’ doet o.m. Japan aan, met concerti van Beethoven en een recitaltournee in het
kader van het Partitura-project o.l.v. Maria João Pires, alsook Italië en Venetië in het het Palazzetto Bru Zane,
verder het Festival du Vexin, de eerste concerten van het netwerk van La Belle Saison (Frankrijk), of nog een
reeks concerten in Zwitserland met het Orchestre de Bienne en Gary Hoffman, en, uiteraard, dichter bij
huis, het Festival de Wallonie en tot slot Bozar.

The Music Chapel is turning a new page!
The 2015-16 season of the Music Chapel will turn a new page in its history. After the inauguration of the new
infrastructure in January of this year – a new tool which it took our artists of all ages some months to get
used to – the Chapel is now ready and eager to welcome a broader audience to its seat in Waterloo:
• On 21 September, together with its partners, patrons and the public, the Chapel will launch its new concert
cycle MuCH Music, a season composed of over 60 public concerts in the Chapel’s new concert hall. Throughout the season, partners, patrons, season-ticket holders and simple spectators will be able to make many
new discoveries: concerts by our young soloists in residence, their guests, associated artists, chamber music
ensembles, orchestral ensembles as well as several prestigious recitals featuring distinguished guests.
• On 1 October, the brand-new Cercle Chapel will officially be launched, a meeting space for the corporate
and cultural worlds – a new type of circle, cultural and contemporary, the Music Chapel adding to its artistic
and cultural activities the desire to act as an intermediary in the economic sector.
Moreover, the Chapel is pursuing its main activities around the transmission of music:
• The new academic year will officially begin on 5 October with its six current disciplines (piano, violin, viola,
cello, chamber music and voice) and about sixty young artists in residence.
• Music Chapel On Tour will visit Japan, among others, with, in particular, Beethoven’s concertos and a tour
of Partitura recitals with Maria João Pires; Italy and Venice at the Palazetto Bru Zane; the Vexin festival; the
first concerts of the Belle Saison network (France); a series of concerts with the Orchestra of Biel/Bienne in
Switzerland and Gary Hoffman; and of course the Festival of Wallonia and Bozar in Belgium.

C’est ce que nous lui avons demandé pour inaugurer le cycle de conférences de votre
nouveau Cercle. Une intervention libre et personnelle sur les enjeux culturels européens. Jean Monnet disait “si l’Europe était à refaire, je commencerais par la culture”.
Alors qu’elle s’est faite sur l’économie et le droit, l’économique commence à comprendre que la culture européenne constitue un singulier avantage compétitif. Si l’industrie du luxe l’a bien anticipée, cette Europe de la culture ne pourra se concrétiser
qu’au travers du politique. Une politique qui se construit adagio dans l’agitation des
conflits d’intérêts et antagonismes de tous ordres. Christine Ockrent et Jean-Pierre de
Launoit étaient de grands amis. C’eût été pour lui un grand plaisir de l’accueillir. Nous
lui dédierons ce moment.

sur le thème de l’Art Déco à la Fête ! Pour sa 8e édition, la Biennale Art nouveau et Art
Déco mettra l’accent sur les lieux de fête, de spectacle, de rencontre, etc. construits dans
ces deux styles architecturaux majeurs à Bruxelles. Amateur de patrimoine, Bruxellois
convaincu, touriste d’un week-end, tous sont invités à une Biennale 2015 pleine de belles
découvertes !

Apparentée pour beaucoup à, au mieux, un loisir, au pire, un luxe, la culture est, selon
certains de ses acteurs, malmenée par la classe politique. Vrai ou faux? Toujours est-il
que nos institutions sont complexes et qu’il n’y a pas de développement culturel sans
volonté politique. Et pourtant, la culture est, et a toujours été, créatrice de valeur, que
ce soit de manière directe ou indirecte. A défaut d’un financement public qui fasse
l’unanimité, doit-on espérer ou craindre l’arrivée d’un financement majoritairement
privé, rare dans nos régions mais fréquent outre-Atlantique? Comment éviter l’écueil
de l’uniformisation, comment promouvoir la culture auprès des plus jeunes, comment restaurer son image auprès de la majorité des entreprises?

Voici près d’un demi-siècle que la tendance nordsud s’est inversée en Belgique. Développement du tertiaire, voies maritimes, industries de transformation florissantes,
le succès de la Flandre est presque insolent et semble quelquefois jeter la disgrâce
sur la Wallonie. Pourtant, dans ce riche terreau wallon, naissent des jeunes pousses
prometteuses, encouragées par les pouvoirs publics et les investisseurs et business
angels, de plus en plus nombreux. Puisque tout est à (re)faire et que l’heure est désormais à l’ouverture d’esprit et à l’intelligence collective, comment la Wallonie peut-elle
s’inspirer de la performance flamande? Au nom de ce qui nous sépare, jouissons de
ce qui peut nous réunir.

Bizarre Bizarre… Je découvre des instruments : les cuivres !
Avec Piccolo & Saxo, la petite histoire d’un grand orchestre
Durant cette matinée dominicale, cinq cuivres de l’Orchestre National proposent quelques
pièces du répertoire pour leur instrument. André Previn, connu comme chef d’orchestre,
pianiste et arrangeur, est également célèbre pour ses compositions. L’artiste aux multiples
facettes Enrique Crespo, lui-même tromboniste au Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, mêle
dans ses compositions les influences du jazz, de la musique classique et de la musique
populaire. Quant à West Side Story, c’est sans nul doute la composition la plus célèbre de
Leonard Bernstein, jusqu’alors connu comme chef d’orchestre.

Op zondagochtend brengen vijf koperblazers van het Nationaal Orkest een keuze uit het
repertoire voor hun instrumenten. André Previn geniet faam als klassiek dirigent en pianist-arrangeur, maar weet ook als componist van wanten. De veelzijdige Enrique Crespo,
zelf trombonist bij het Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, vermengt in zijn composities invloeden uit jazz, klassieke en volksmuziek. En West Side Story is zonder twijfel de bekendste compositie van de vooral als dirigent bekendstaande Leonard Bernstein.
Piccolo, Saxo et Compagnie ou la Petite Histoire d’un grand orchestre est un conte
musical pédagogique imaginé en 1956. Les instruments de musique, ont le don de
dialoguer entre eux et de se déplacer comme des personnages.

Entreprendre, c’est jouer sa vie en mode “hard”. Un grand saut, un coup de poker
que beaucoup préfèrent rêver plutôt qu’oser. Peur de l’échec, de la stigmatisation
du “loser”, mais aussi de la vastité des démarches à accomplir avant de voir les premiers résultats concrets. Comment donner l’envie d’entreprendre, lever les incertitudes, créer la confiance? Le monde a changé et, avec lui, l’entreprise et sa création.
Bruno Wattenbergh, qui avait notamment été coach dans une téléréalité consacrée à
la création d’entreprise, a fondé impulse.brussels, une plateforme dédiée à tous ceux
qui, un jour, ont rêvé de créer leur propre job. Et pourquoi pas, un jour d’en offrir à
quelques autres?
Fondé par trois musiciens belges reconnus sur la scène internationale - Marie Hallynck,
violoncelliste, Ronald Van Spaendonck, clarinettiste, et Muhiddin Dürrüoglu, pianiste et
compositeur - Kheops a vu le jour en 2006. Avec la harpiste Sophie Hallynck, ils forment
désormais le « carré de base » de cet ensemble à géométrie variable. Si de multiples affinités conjuguées expliquent sa naissance, KHEOPS se fonde aussi et surtout sur une volonté
commune de mettre la convivialité qui le caractérise au service d’un travail fouillé et exigeant, de la quête incessante d’un idéal artistique, seuls vecteurs communs garantissant
l’épanouissement de la sensibilité et de la personnalité de chacun.
Kheops werd in 2006 opgericht op initiatief van drie Belgische muzikanten die internationale erkenning genieten: Marie Hallynck, celliste, Ronald Van Spaendonck, klarinettist en
Muhiddin Dürrüoglu, pianist en componist. Samen met harpiste Sophie Hallynck vormen
ze voortaan de ‘basisvierhoek’ van dit ensemble met variabele bezetting. Als veelzijdige
gedeelde interesses aan de grondslag liggen van dit ensemble, blijft het succes van Kheops
bovenal verzekerd door hun gezamenlijke wil om het plezier van samen te musiceren ten
dienste te stellen van een grondige en veeleisende voorbereiding en van een niet-aflatende zoektocht naar een artistiek ideaal, twee factoren die samen garant staan voor de
ontplooiing van de gevoeligheid en de persoonlijkheid van eenieder.

Premier prix dans 12 concours de piano, tels que les concours Nelson Freire et Gina Bachauer. Elle étudie avec la pianiste portugaise Maria João Pires, comme assistante dans
des ateliers à travers le monde et depuis 2012 à la Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth.
Ze won de eerste prijs op 12f pianowedstrijden, zoals de Nelson Freire en de Gina Bachauer wedstrijd. Ze behaalde haar diploma aan het Muziekconservatorium van Brazilië
en studeert sinds 2008 bij de Portugese pianiste Maria João Pires, die ze assisteert tijdens
pianoworkshops in de hele wereld en sinds 2012 bij de Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth.

Auteur français de plusieurs livres, dont “Le Dictionnaire amoureux du piano” (Plon), animateur de “Passion classique” sur Radio Classique, pour laquelle il a reçu le prix de la
meilleure émission de radio en 2014, il viendra nous entretenir de Schubert. A l’occasion
de la parution de “Un hiver avec Schubert” (Buchet Chastel), Olivier Bellamy dressera le
portrait de celui qui n’aura vécu que pour la musique. Cette rencontre a lieu en partenariat
avec la Librairie Graffiti.

Les solistes de la Monnaie font partie du grand Ensemble de Musique de chambre de la
Monnaie, ce qui ouvre des possibilités de combinaisons instrumentales inépuisables et
met ainsi à leur portée presque tout le répertoire du genre. Au fil des ans, ces formations
ont toutes développé un répertoire particulièrement étendu.
Daarnaast maken de solisten van de Munt deel uit van het grote Kamermuziekensemble
van de Munt, wat onuitputtelijke mogelijkheden oplevert in instrumentale combinaties,
zodat quasi het volledige kamermuziekrepertoire binnen hun bereik ligt. Doorheen de jaren hebben deze ensembles stuk voor stuk een zeer uitgebreid repertoire opgebouwd.

Que ce soit sur les routes, en studio ou sur scène, Charles Pasi a croisé Maceo Harper, Jeff
Beck, Jack Johnson, Bertignac, Zaz, Grand Corps Malade, Jean-Louis Aubert, Carla Bruni.
Sa musique est une valise idéale. Elle aime le blues, la soul, les mélanges spontanés, et
audacieux. Elle refuse de s’enfermer, d’intégrer une famille qui de toute façon ne sera
jamais la sienne vue que cette famille n’existe que dans les têtes de ceux qui ne pensent
qu’à étiqueter les choses de la vie.

Bozar Music Opening Night
Tuned Senses
Met een verrassend festival waarbij de grenzen vervagen tussen genres en disciplines komen zowel muziekliefhebbers als clubbers aan hun trekken. BOZAR opent zijn
seizoen met een avond vol optredens die buiten de klassieke lijntjes kleuren, in alle
hoeken van het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten. Experimenten met elektronische en klassieke muziek, installaties en videowerken lopen naadloos in elkaar over. De sfeer klimt
naar een climax met de elektro van Zukunft die het Paleis doet daveren tot in de
vroege uurtjes. Aan het begin van het 150e seizoen merk je dat BOZAR de erfenis van
zijn voorgangers in ere houdt en blijft vernieuwen. Kunst is een open laboratorium.
De Bozar Music Opening Night staat daarom in het teken van toegankelijkheid en
diversiteit.

This festival with a difference, in which boundaries between genres and disciplines are
blurred, has plenty to offer both lovers of classical music and clubbers. BOHO Players,
featuring soprano Diana Gouglina, will collaborate with for a complete sensory experience with works by Ives, Vivaldi, Pärt, Mahler and world premiere performance of a
work by young Brooklyn composer Mitchell McCarthy. Their music will transport you
beyond the boundaries of the traditional concert format, and inspire you to observe
your musical surroundings from a completely new perspective. Seated on the floor,
right next to the musicians, or transported on a bed with digital sound manipulation,
Tuned Senses will entice you with a feast of uncommon ingredients.
Mélomanes et clubbers, vivez la soirée de toutes les surprises : un festival de performances musicales inattendues, poussant les formats de concert et situations d’écoute
hors des sentiers battus, brouillant les frontières des genres et disciplines. Une expérience à vivre au gré des nombreux espaces du Palais des Beaux-Arts, où s’allieront
sans complexe expérimentations électroniques et classiques, installation, vidéo...
avec en point d’orgue, l’électro de Zukunft, jusqu’aux petites heures. Au seuil de sa
150e saison, BOZAR vous propose une soirée faisant la part belle à l’innovation et à
l’ouverture ; une Bozar Music Opening Night digne d’un Palais que ses fondateurs
voyaient comme un “laboratoire”.

Dans le cadre de la Nuit Blanche, la Monnaie présentera Three Voices de Morton
Feldman, une partition spécialement composée pour l’iconique chanteuse américaine, spécialiste de la musique contemporaine, Joan La Barbara. Cette dernière sera
exceptionnellement présente à Bruxelles pour encadrer la création de cette œuvre, le
3 octobre. Nous vous proposons de partager son expérience et de la rencontrer lors
d’une master class publique et d’un brunch le dimanche 27 septembre. Une occasion
unique de rencontrer une des muses des plus grands compositeurs américains tels
que John Cage, Philip Glass et Morton Feldman.
In het kader van Nuit Blanche presenteert de Munt Three Voices van Morton Feldman,
een werk dat speciaal werd gecomponeerd voor de iconische Amerikaanse zangeres
en specialiste van de hedendaagse muziek Joan La Barbara. Op 3 oktober zal zij aanwezig zijn in Brussel om de creatie van dit werk te omkaderen. Een uitzonderlijke kans
om kennis te maken met een van de muzes van toonaangevende componisten als
John Cage, Philip Glass en Morton Feldman. Ontmoet haar op zondag 27 september
tijdens een openbare masterclass en een brunch en laat u gidsen door haar ervaring.

Pour composer “Three Voices” (1989), Morton Feldman utilisa “Wind” du poète
Frank O’Hara. Il s’agit d’une oeuvre de concert pour voix solo et deux enregistreurs,
qu’il dédia à la chanteuse et compositrice Joan La Barbara. Les jeunes chanteurs participant à la Masterclasse de Joan La Barbara, organisée par la Monnaie, La Chapelle
Musicale et enoa, exécuteront cette oeuvre mythique qui s’inscrit dans la tradition de
Minimal Music, dans une mise en scène de Sjaron Minailo. Tout comme dans la plupart des oeuvres tardives de Morton Feldman, “Three Voices” récompense le spectateur attentif avec une rythmique, des couleurs et des émotions époustouflantes,
fortes et étonnantes.

Morton Feldman schreef “Three Voices” (1989) een groot concertwerk voor solostem
en twee tapes op tekst van “Wind”, een gedicht van Frank O’Hara, en droeg zijn compositie op aan zangeres en componiste Joan La Barbara. Jonge zangers, deelnemers
aan de masterclass onder leiding van Joan La Barbara en georganiseerd door de Munt,
de Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel en enoa – zullen dit iconisch werk van Minimal Music uitvoeren in een regie van Sjaron Minailo. Zoals bij de meeste latere werken van
Morton Feldman, beloont ook “Three Voices voor Joan La Barbara” de aandachtige
luisteraar met een verbluffende reeks ritmes, kleuren en emoties.
