The first two cellars accounted for over a third of the sale total. From these two collections, Burgundy proved the most popular and the DRC from the first cellar performed strongly. The Georges Roumier section from the second cellar generated huge interest and telephone bidding reached fever pitch, with many prices going well over the high estimate. Elsewhere, Bordeaux sold well, with Le Pin 2000 in bottles and Lafleur 1982 in magnums appearing in the top ten. However, the brightest “star” of the sale was the two six-bottle lots of Quinta do Noval Nacional 1963 which sold for over three times the estimate at £23,500 each. This is a record for Vintage Port at auction, justifying its reputation as the “must have” port for connoisseurs. We now look forward with anticipation to our 10 December auction which has over 1400 lots – plenty of wines to whet one’s appetite for Christmas!” Specialists in Charge: Serena Sutcliffe MW, Stephen Mould Press Office Contact: Matthew Floris Please note all prices include buyer’s premium. Sale session totals are net aggregate figures plus premiums. In the case of wine, the premium is 17.5% of the hammer price. *Estimates do not include buyer’s premium.
