In some places leakage of the waterproofing had occured over a long period of time. This resulted in water ingress into the building with total refurbishment as the only solution. For thermal insulation, the FOAMGLAS® system was chosen. In addition to efficient rain proofing, cellular glass insulation had been specified for the unique high compres-sive strength, that allows for foot and car traffic accessible areas. The failed roof structure was replaced with a new system, including vapor-barrier, thermal insulation, roofing sheets and load distribution layer. The all glass structure of the insulation prohibits moisture absorption by the material, and its adhesively bonded layers offer efficient protection against leakage inside the building. The main building of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) is very famous for its architectural design in Switzerland. Die Wasserisolation war an verschiedenen Stellen seit längerer Zeit undicht. Dies führte zu Wassereinbrüchen im Gebäude – eine gründliche Sanierung drängte sich auf. Dämmseitig fiel der Entscheid für FOAMGLAS®. Nicht nur, dass der Sicherheitsdämmstoff absolut wasserdicht ist, auch seine unvergleichliche Druckfestigkeit war gefragt (begehund befahrbare Bereiche). Für die neue Deckenkonstruktion wurde der alte Aufbau durch ein System aus Dampfsperre, Wärmedämmung, Wasserisolation und Lastverteilschicht ersetzt. Die Durchfeuchtung ist vom Material her, die Unterflutung vom System her ausgeschlossen. Das Hauptgebäude der ETH Zürich gehört zu den architektonisch herausragenden Bauwerken von nationaler Bedeutung. Depuis assez longtemps, l’étanchéité était défectueuse à plusieurs endroits. L’eau pénétrait donc dans le bâtiment – un assainissement en profondeur s’imposait donc. Pour l’isolation, le choix s’est porté sur FOAMGLAS®. Car non seulement l’isolant de sécurité est absolument imperméable à l’eau, mais son incomparable résistance à la compression était également requise (parties praticables et carrossables). Pour la nouvelle construction du plafond, l’ancienne structure a été remplacée par un système alliant pare-vapeur, isolation thermique, étanchéité et couche de répartition des charges. Le matériau exclut toute pénétration d’humidité et le système tout noyage de la couche d’isolation. Le bâtiment principal de l’EPF Zurich fait partie des constructions architecturales exceptionnelles d’importance nationale. Ad esso è stato successivamente aggiunto il cosiddetto Sicurezza funzionale con una resistenza enorme al tempo stesso www.foamglas.ch www.foamglas.it «edificio MM» (mensa, sala multifunzioni), il cui tetto funge contemporaneamente anche da terrazza del Poly. Da tempo, l’impermeabilità all’acqua non era più tale in molti punti. Si ebbero penetrazioni d’acqua nell’edificio e un risanamento approfondito si faceva sempre più necessario. Per quanto concerne l’isolamento, la scelta cadde sul FOAMGLAS®: non soltanto perché questo isolante di sicurezza è assolutamente impermeabile all’acqua, ma anche per la sua incomparabile resistenza alla compressione (zone calpestabili e carrozzabili). Per la nuova costruzione del tetto, la vecchia struttura è stata sostituita da un nuovo sistema composto di barriera contro il vapore, isolamento termico, barriera contro l’acqua e strato di distribuzione dei carichi.
