… During 5 days, the "Amiens Musiques de Jazz et d'Ailleurs" jazz festival, the only event of this kind
in the North of France, will be organising approximately forty concerts during its 28th edition.
Free and innovative music which has built this festival’s reputation around the world. Several concerts will
be given each evening by renowned artists such as Amadou and Mariam, Arythmythique, Brad Mehldau,
Las Ondas Marteles, Mo DJ, the National Jazz Orchestra, White & Sticky, etc.
On the programme: rock, pop, jazz, world music, modern dance, etc. A moment of sharing between
singers, jazz enthusiasts and lovers.

2 minutes and 35 seconds of joy
The French call them “reprises”, we call them “covers”…
The art of rereading is a visceral part of the history of popular music, from the
Beatles adapting their own versions of Elvis or Little Richard to the
rediscovery of Britney Spears’ Toxic by Yael Naim’s fingers last year at this
very festival. Jazz improvisers have even transcended the genre, turning
overheard hits into standards that are ready to be played all night long.
Mélissa Laveaux, Brad Mehldau, Misja Fitzgerald Michel, Las Ondas
Marteles..., so many declarations of love for these “two minutes and thirtyfive seconds of joy” that changed their lives: a song, a riff or a mere intro
played constantly. All of the 2009 guests have one day crossed paths with
this musical spark, a source of irresistible desire to “do the same”.
In music, as in other fields, rereading the past helps us outline a future.
