Overview of the Allowances and Reimbursements covered by the MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) In the Netherlands 1 Subsistence allowance 1.a Housing allowance The institution uses this amount to pay for the fellowship holder’s housing. Subsistence allowance This amount will be paid directly to the fellowship holder to provide for meals and other daily expenses. Pocket money for incidental expenses only Some institutions provide both housing and all meals for their fellowship holders. In this case they will pay a daily pocket money for expenses other than housing and meals. Personal allowance Allowance for settling in and for sending luggage Study materials Allowance meant for ensuring the availability of the study literature needed. It is up to the Dutch institution to hand it over to the fellowship holder or to use it for acquiring study literature. Visa costs Reimbursement of fees paid for entry visa or other permits required by Dutch law. International travel Travel from the international airport nearest to the fellowship holder’s place of residence to the international airport nearest to the location of the course and back Travel from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to the location of the course or programme and back Insurance Arranged and paid for by the Dutch institution 1.b or 2 3.a 4 5.a 5.b 6 € 15.00 per day € 17.00 per day € 5.50 per day € 15.00 once € 15.00 once The actual costs are reimbursed Arranged and paid for by the Dutch institution Actual costs of travel by public transport (2nd class) Fixed maximum contribution per day Please note that the MSP scholarship is a contribution towards the costs of the selected short course and is intended to supplement the salary that the scholarship holder must continue to receive during the study period.
