Formule de Succès Universitaire

En action de grâce – Cette semaine, Germain Hammond est venu réparer la barrière devant la
porte du presbytère. Un bénévole souriant et serviable. Grand merci Germain. Nous sommes

Le mois d’octobre, le mois du Rosaire
Le rosaire comporte quatre chapelets. C’est un ensemble
de prières successives dédiées à Marie, interrompues à
intervalles réguliers par une prière à Dieu le Père (Notre Père). Chaque
série est consacrée à la méditation d’un passage d’Évangile dans lequel
Marie joue un rôle central. Cette prière répétitive datée du XIIIe siècle vise
à nous faire entrer dans la vie de Marie, modèle du chrétien.

Prière d'un fil électrique
Seigneur, moi je suis le fil,
Tu es la prise de courant.
Tant que je reste branché sur Toi,
un courant d’amour circule en moi;
mais, aussitôt que je me coupe de Toi,
je suis un fil mort, sans utilité aucune.
Aide le petit fil que je suis
à allumer beaucoup de lampes et à inonder de lumière les cœurs enténébrés.
Permets que je réchauffe les cœurs froids,
que je perce les cœurs durs
et que je nourrisse les cœurs affamés de Toi.
Seigneur, branche mon petit fil
au cœur de tous ceux que je rencontrerai aujourd’hui,
afin de faire passer en eux le courant d’amour,
le voltage de l’espérance, et l’ampérage de la charité. Amen.

Announcements from the Catholic Pastoral Centre for
October 5th 2014, Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs
Introduction to other Christian Denominations
This course consists of five classes, with discussions on major streams of Christianity in the
light of Catholic orthodoxy and the magisterial teachings on Ecumenism; adressing the
history, doctrine, and approach of each major denomination, and is aimed at every
educational level and background. For Catholics with non-Catholic family members,

Dates: Saturdays October 4, 18, November 1, 15, 29 at 10:00am -12:00am at the
Catholic Pastoral Centre.

Love the City Conference: How Faith can Change the World: Oct. 17th 6:30-9:30pm,
Oct. 18th 8:30am-4:30pm. An opportunity to connect and equip faith-based Calgary groups
working to practically bless and transform the urban communities in which they live. The
conference’s focus for 2014 is advocacy: the practice of organizing resources and voices to

Charities and Development
Bishop’s Dinner 2014 – Join with us as Bishop Henry explores the meaning and role of the
family in the 21st century, October 16, 2014 at Commonwealth Hall. Tickets are $200
each and $1600 for a table of 8. Tax receipts of approximately $75 will be issued after the

Office of Vocations
EVENING OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS: You are invited to a holy hour of prayer for
vocations to the priesthood and religious life on Sunday October 5, 2014. Exposition of the
Blessed Sacrament will begin at 7:30pm. Place: St. Anne's Parish, Calgary. For further

Health Care Apostolate
The Diocesan Bereavement Care Education Program - Part 1 will be on October 24 &
25, 2014, and will conclude with Part 2 on October 31 & November 1, 2014. The program
will run both Friday evenings from 6:30pm - 9:00pm, and all day both Saturdays from
9:00am - 3:30pm at the FCJ Christian Life Centre. The Program will teach you the skills
to offer your presence and support in a caring way. The grieving may include your family,

Social Justice
Homeless Awareness Day - On Friday, October 10th the Calgary Homeless Foundation
and Face It Calgary are hosting Homeless Awareness Day in Calgary. Everyone is invited
to attend a lunch hour event at Olympic Plaza downtown from 11:30am-1pm, where
homeless-serving agencies and community groups will be presenting information about
their work with those struggling with homelessness. The focus of the awareness event will
be on what we can do to make affordable housing more available in the City. If you have

Sponsorship of Syrian Refugees: Calgary Catholic Immigration Society will be receiving
the Diocese' first Syrian refugee families soon. We are seeking short-term financial support
from parishes or individuals willing to assist with initial resettlement. If interested, please
contact Antoinette Godbout, CCIS Refugee Sponsorship Coordinator at 403-290-5750.
An Appeal to Assist Christian Iraqis - CNEWA is collecting funds to assist refugees who
are fleeing violence and persecution in Iraq. Donations can be made as follows:
- by sending a cheque payable to your parish earmarked "Christian Iraqi Relief Effort"
- by sending a cheque payable to the RC Diocese earmarked "Christian Iraqi Relief Effort"
and sent to the Pastoral Centre, 120 17th Ave S.W., Calgary AB T2S 2T2. More on

Youth Ministry
Is looking to hire young adults for the Diocesan Youth Retreat Team (DYRT). If you are
between the ages of 17-30 and would like to share your faith in a retreat setting, with casual

Life & Family Resource Centre (LFRC)
The next Transitions program for those recently separated or divorced will run from
October 2014 – January 2015, every Wednesday from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. This program is a
journey of hope toward healing. Participants will meet once a week to reflect upon and
discuss topics such as self-esteem, stress, anger, guilt, blame, loneliness, forgiveness,
