She started in October and this is her first job in France. She works 11 hours a week but she finds that’s not enough : she has so much free time. She thinks the teachers are great and the students are welcoming. Quimper is nice because there are many kind people and she has had no trouble making friends. Another great advantage for her in Quimper is that the shops are open later than in England : she loves shopping. She also says the touristic monuments like the cathedral are just as beautiful as in England but she appreciates that it is less busy here. She sometimes misses her family though. She has visited Germany and wants to go there again maybe to work. She started her studies two years ago and after her time abroad she would like to study one more year before finding a job in the real world. For this year she had the choice to study abroad or be an assistant : she prefers making a break with her studies. Catherine wants to become a translator Today we interviewed Catherine Folwell ( nicknamed by her sister la folle qui va bien because it’s a franglais, a mix between the French word folle and the English well ). Her sister is 23 years old and will be 24 in April. Catherine was born on 5th April 1993 so she is 20. She’s always happy and her friends say she’s a teacher’s pet ; she’s a true girl, very sociable and generous. Her favourite kind of music is the music of the 60s and 70s but she dislikes recent pop music. Her hobbies include chess –she says she’s an addict, a chess-aholic- , math, languages, badminton, playing the piano and reading adventure books. She arrived in France in October and she’s fond of French food –except cheese!– In England she studies at the University of Nottingham in her third year. She speaks English, French, German, Dutch so she wants to become a translator. After her fourth year she will have two choices : first she can prepare a Master degree or… find a job. She said that the Master is a great choice but it’s too much for her. She loves Quimper, which is a pretty town but smaller than her place in England.
