Jack O'Lantern is a carved pumpkin.
It looks mean / evil.
There is a candle inside.
Jack is not a good man. He is cruel / nasty / evil.
He is a drunkman.
Vocab : Stingy : When you are stingy you don't like giving / you
don't like to share.
Jack plays tricks on everybody (his wife, his family...)
One day, he plays a trick on the Devil.
The Devil gets stuck on top of a tree. He can't climb down.
He promises not to take Jack's soul / spirit.
One day, Jack dies.
He goes to heaven but God doesn't want him.
He goes to Hell but the Devil doesn't want him.
He must stay in nether world.
But it is dark / obscure so jack carves a turnip and he puts fire – a piece of coal- inside.
Now he walks for eternity.
