AF ELECTION 2015 CANDIDATE BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES Don Fischer is from Columbus, Ohio. He was an Army officer for 30 years, serving in Germany for 16 years and ended his career as Commandant, DLI in Monterey. His wife was German of French descent (Huguenot). He worked for the University of New Mexico, DLI in Monterey and CSUMB as a civilian. He served as both Commandant and Provost (head academician) of DLI for a total of 11 years. He has been a member of our AF chapter for two years. He worked actively with the French forces while in Germany both in the Alsace and Treve/Trier. He has worked closely with the French Forces language school. He plays classical guitar and oboe and knows a great deal about French culture, in particular 17th and 18th French history. He believes he could be very useful in terms of connections to language and culture and development of activities with the Alliance. Peterson Conway - I am from Salem Virginia and have been on the Monterey peninsula since 1956. I am an exporter and I have a retail store in Carmel, Conway of Asia. I've been a member of Alliance Francaise since I was a student in Paris in 1963. I've never been an officer, however I am deeply committed to the Alliance not just because I am a Francophile and a loyal French speaker. I think the cultural and intellectual aspect of AF contributes greatly to our community. I find my friends in AF are truly a great contribution in my life and therefore I thoroughly support all of the richness of that great community. Whenever possible I would love to offer my home for special events.
