Public Transportation in Paris and to Cachan
The ENS de Cachan is located on the Ile de France region and is easily accessible with the network of
public transportation. However, please note that while Paris is on the first two zones of that network,
Cachan and in particular the station “Bagneux” is on zone 3 and requires a special ticket (a regular
Paris Metro ticket is only valid for zones 1 and 2).

You might consider buying a Paris Visite card for 3 zones, for as many days as you need, it allows
for unlimited public transportation (metro, bus, etc.) and a few other advantages.

Accomodation in Paris
The ENS de Cachan is located on a southern suburb of Paris easily accessible with public
transportation. With the RER B, it takes approximately 20 minutes from central Paris (Saint
Michel or Châtelet areas) to arrive at the ENS Cachan (plus 10mn walk). Therefore, any hotel
in Paris connected to the RER B line (which is very central) will be practical and you have a
large choice depending on your budget and favorite parts of Paris.
Although the conference organizers had at first no intention of making hotel arrangements and
the hotels have to be booked and paid for individually by the conference participants, quite a
few participants have wished to be together for networking and/or budget reasons. We have
thus pre-reserved a quota of rooms with two hotels in Paris.
TERMINUS ORLEANS**
197 Boulevard Brune 75014 PARIS, tél:+33.(0)1.45397144 fax: (0)1 45 39 12 86

Very well rated by TripAdvisor and Bookings. Offers the conference participants a special
group rate of 75€ for rooms with individual bathroom/shower, continental breakfast included.
This rate is valid until the 6th of June 2011. Use the code: ENS CACHAN.
Hôtel ACROPOLE***
199 Bd Brune 75014 PARIS tél: + 33 (0)1 45 39 64 17 fax: (0)1 45 42 18 21

Next door to the previous hotel, larger bathrooms, has also accepted to reserve a few rooms
for conference participants at 92€ for rooms with individual bathroom, including breakfast
buffet. This rate is valid until the 6th of June 2011. Mention the rooms were pre-reserved. Use
the code: ENS CACHAN.
These two Hotels are conveniently located a few meters from public transportation (Subway,
Bus and Tramway); a Metro line that connects to the center of Paris; and a straight connection
(about 20mn bus ride) to ENS de Cachan with the Bus n°187 Porte d'Orléans – Fresnes. Exit
the bus at the stop “Division Leclerc - Camille Desmoulins”, which leaves you at the rear entrance
of ENS (south-east on the “ENS campus map”). Enter the gate to the ENS (student housing
CROUS) and follow the alley until the main entrance gate. The conference amphitheater
Marie Curie is located on the d’Alembert building which faces the main entrance gate. You
can also take the subway and change at station Denfert-Rochereau to the RER B, or take the
tramway to Cité Universitaire station of RER B, and exit at the stop Bagneux (then walk 10mn
using the map “How to get to the ENS de Cachan”). Enter through the main entrance gate, the
d’Alembert building is straight ahead in front of the main entrance gate.

For other options, check the other hotels in the vicinity of Porte d’Orléans (with the same
transportation options), or in other parts of Paris that you might prefer, and/or use the ENS de
Cachan web site which gives a list of hotels recommended for proximity reasons and includes
the web links to those hotels. http://www.ens-cachan.fr/versionfrancaise/campus/hebergement-et-restauration/liste-d-hotels-20759.kjsp?RH=1190620152367
ENS de Cachan Housing Facilities
The ENS de Cachan on campus housing service has accepted to pre-reserve a very limited number of
hotel type rooms (chambres hôtelières) for conference participants: use the code RC10 conference
For example, a room with ENS housing facilities costs 55 euros per night for a double for single use
with bathroom (breakfast costs an extra 4.95euros but there are also kitchen facilities).
