CIRCULAR ECONOMY INTERNATIONAL FORUM
REUNION ISLAND
26th – 30th September 2016
In the heart of the Indian Ocean, La Reunion – a French Outermost Region –
is an island of contrasts. Despite a limited size and scarce natural resources, it
experiences one of the strongest economic and demographic growths of
the EU. The growing gap between metabolic needs and carrying capacity
constitutes a major source of
vulnerability and questions the
sustainability of its model. This major
challenge is a great opportunity to
design and implement solutions
that could be exported to other
territories.
Such a conviction
constitutes the core of La Reunion
Smart Specialization Strategy (S3)
which envisions to position the island
into a living lab for tropical
ecological economy.
To stimulate and accelerate this transition, we are looking forward to fostering
new relationships in the academic, economic and institutional fields. In this
regard, Nexa, the Regional Agency for Development, Investment and Innovation
in partnership with the University of Reunion organizes an international Forum
on circular economy next September.
This edition will welcome 200 local participants and 20 circular economy experts
from clusters, companies, research centers and universities, local innovation &
development agencies, regional governments, think tanks to develop joint
projects.

APPEL A MANIFESTATION
FORUM INTERNAIONAL DE L’ECONOMIE CIRCULAIRE
ILE DE LA REUNION
26 – 30 Septembre 2016
Au cœur de l’Océan Indien, l’ile de La Réunion, une Région Ultrapériphérique de
l’Europe, concentre l’ensemble des grands défis mondiaux. Territoire de contrastes,
de taille modeste et aux ressources naturelles limitées, l’île connait l’une des plus
fortes croissances économique et démographique de toute l’Union Européenne.
Son caractère insulaire et sa position
géographique lui imposent une gestion durable
exemplaire, afin de préserver son patrimoine
d’exception et sa biodiversité, tout en réduisant
l’écart entre les besoins métaboliques et les
ressources locales, source majeure de
vulnérabilité.
La Réunion souhaite transformer cette
contrainte en une opportunité, en imaginant
dès à présent des solutions durables
innovantes, exportables sur d’autres
territoires. Cette ambition constitue le cœur de la Stratégie de Spécialisation
Intelligente de La Réunion (S3), confirmant le positionnement de l’île en tant que
laboratoire de l’économie écologique tropicale.
Dans l’objectif d’accompagner et d’accélérer cette transformation territoriale, nous
encourageons l’ouverture de l’île sur l’extérieur autour d’axes économiques,
institutionnels et scientifiques. A cet effet, Nexa, l’Agence Régionale de
Développement, d’Investissement et d’Innovation de La Réunion, en partenariat avec
l’Université de La Réunion, organise un Forum International de l’Economie
Circulaire, en Septembre 2016.
Cette édition accueillera 200 participants locaux et une vingtaine d’experts de
l’économie circulaire – clusters, entreprises, centres de recherches et universités,
agences de développement et d’innovation, institutionnels ou groupes de réflexions –
afin de réfléchir à des solutions et faire l’ébauche de projets communs.
