Les Archives de Bruxelles The Brussels Archives

De 1878 à 1960 (1968) non moins de 113 églises et organisations protestantes furent
actives au « Congo Kinshasa ». Elles avaient une représentation commune en
Belgique, le Bureau de Bruxelles, pour les contacts avec les autorités coloniales. Ce
Bureau est à l’origine des Archives de Bruxelles. Le présent livre contient un index
des Archives de Bruxelles de 1922 à 1968 et un commentaire historique de la
mission protestante au Congo de 1878 à 1968. Les églises et missions occidentales
ont aujourd’hui la tâche très importante, pour ne pas dire l’obligation, de mettre
leurs archives à la disposition des chercheurs congolais. Voilà l’idée maîtresse de
cet ouvrage, Les Archives de Bruxelles.
Between 1878 and 1960 (1968) no less than 113 Protestant churches and missionary
organizations worked in “Congo Kinshasa”. From 1922 they had a joint bureau in
Brussels for contacts with the colonial power in Belgium. The Brussels Bureau gave
birth to the Brussels Archives. This book contains an index of these Archives spanning the years 1922-1968 and an historical commentary on Protestant Congo Missions covering the years 1878-1968. Western Protestant churches and missionary
organizations have an important task today, even an
obligation, to put their archives at the disposal of
Congolese researchers. That is the main intention behind
this book, The Brussels Archives.
Gösta Stenström, né en 1930, docteur en médecine, a
grandi dans ”les deux Congos”. Il a été médecin-chef et
chef de clinique à l’Hôpital Général de Skövde en Suède
et à l’Hôpital d’IME Kimpese au Congo Kinshasa.
Durant la période de 1985 à 1994 il travaille comme Secrétaire de la Mission Extérieure, responsable du travail
international de la Svenska Missionsförbundet, Suède.
En 1999, il fonde La maison d’édition Kimpese.
Gösta Stenström, born in 1930, is a physician and grew up
in ”the two Congos”. He has worked as chief physician
and head of a clinical department at the General Hospital of Skövde, Sweden and the IME Kimpese Hospital in
Congo Kinshasa. During the years between 1985-1994 he
worked as International Secretary responsible for the
international work of the Mission Covenant Church of
Sweden. In 1999 he founded Kimpese Publishing House.
