A help-line telephone number is then given to the insured who must then always use this number for all further contact with Mondial Assistance. Charges incurred by the insured for calling Mondial Assistance are refunded on provision of documentary evidence (originals, not copies). USING THE SERVICES Use of the services covered by this rider can only be set up with the prior agreement of Mondial Assistance. As a result no expense incurred by the insured without this agreement can be refunded by Mondial Assistance France. In addition, we should state that Mondial Assistance is not able to intervene in the choice of methods and destinations chosen by the emergency services and as a result is not liable for the corresponding costs. Insured parties 1.1.1 Persons covered The following persons are covered by this rider: • The holder of the Référence Habitation insurance policy • His/her spouse (or legal partner) • Their children for which they are financially responsible • Their direct ascendants, resident in Metropolitan France or in the Principality of Monaco, and who normally live under the same roof. 1.1.2 The Home The residential property subject of the Référence Habitation insurance policy is covered by this rider. 2. Valid term of the cover The assistance cover is limited to the valid term of the insurance policy. It expires and it can be renewed or cancelled on the same date and under the same terms and conditions. 3. Generating Facts 1.4.1 Persons covered The services defined in this rider are provided in the case of an accident occurring to the insured at their home. 1.4.2 The Home The services defined in this rider are provided in the case of explosion, fire, flood damage, storm or natural disaster, or theft occurring at the home of the insured. !6 ONLY THE CONTRACTS IN FRENCH ARE LEGAL. Chapter II Damage to the home in the absence of the insured 2.1 Urgent return to the home Where the insured is away whilst the home is damaged, Mondial Assistance organises and pays for his/her urgent return to the home by providing a 1st class train ticket or an economy class air ticket, if this is the only means of transport that can be used. It is understood that where he/she is unable to use the means of transport initially planned for their return, the insured arranges to be refunded for any transport ticket, and that the sum refunded shall be reimbursed to Mondial Assistance within the shortest delay. If, due to the fact of his/her return the insured has left his/her vehicle at the place being visited, Mondial Assistance provides a transport ticket so that he/ she can collect it. 2.2 Security of the damaged home In the absence of the insured, Mondial Assistance takes, with his/her authorisation, all necessary protective measures. In addition, Mondial Assistance pays in advance, where necessary, the costs of bailiffs, locksmiths, carpenters and plumbers. The costs relating to the protective measures as well as the sums paid in advance are repayable within forty-five days of them being paid. After this deadline, Mondial Assistance has the full right to seek their recovery. If the insured’s home has become vulnerable, Mondial Assistance arranges and pays for security for the home for a maximum period of forty-eight consecutive hours. !7 ONLY THE CONTRACTS IN FRENCH ARE LEGAL. Chapter III Damage making the home uninhabitable 3.1 Accommodation 3.1.1 Hotel costs Mondial Assistance arranges hotel accommodation for the insured up to a limit of €61 including tax per person, with maximum of €1525 including tax for the whole family. Mondial Assistance organises and pays for the cost of transport of the family to the hotel within a radius of one hundred kilometres of the home. 3.1.2 Transfer of children aged under fifteen years to a relative Mondial Assistance provides either: • To a person resident in Metropolitan France or Monaco, appointed by the insured, a 1st class return train ticket, or an economy air ticket where this is the only means of transport that can be used, free of charge, to collect the children (or infants) under fifteen years of age and take them to a relative appointed by the insured in Metropolitan France or Monaco. • Or, if it is not possible to contact one the persons appointed by the policyholder, or if they are unable to travel, Mondial Assistance sends a childminder to collect the children and take them to the person appointed by the insured. Mondial Assistance pays for the cost of this service within a radius of three hundred kilometres of the home. 3.2 Transfer of furniture 3.2.1 Transport of furniture If the insured wants to transfer all or part of his/her furniture to another location, Mondial Assistance provides a commercial vehicle – without a driver – up to a limit of €458 including tax so as to allow the furniture to be transferred. !8 ONLY THE CONTRACTS IN FRENCH ARE LEGAL. THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS HAS BEEN TRANSLATED FOR YOUR INFORMATION ONLY. 3.2.2 Uninhabitable for a long period: professional removals If the home is uninhabitable for more than thirty days and it is necessary to move the furniture, either to a new residence, or to storage, or to any other place where it will be secure, Mondial Assistance organises and pays for the removal to this new residence or the storage warehouse, within a radius of fifty kilometres of the home, up to a limit of €1000 including tax per claim. This move must however be made within sixty days of the damage occurring. 3.3 Security of damaged premises If the insured’s property has become vulnerable, we arrange and pay for security for the home for a maximum period of forty-eight consecutive hours. !9 ONLY THE CONTRACTS IN FRENCH ARE LEGAL. Chapter IV Emergency help after damage to the home 4.1 Emergency items Where the damage has made the insured’s home uninhabitable and has destroyed his/her personal effects, Mondial Assistance provides any clothes and toiletry items that are urgently required, up to a limit of €305 including tax per person, with a maximum of €1220 including tax per family. In addition, if the policyholder has no financial means, Mondial Assistance provides, as an interest-free loan, a maximum sum of €4574 including tax. This sum is repayable within a period of three months, over which Mondial Assistance has the right to seek recovery of the sum. The insured authorises Mondial Assistance to deduct the loaned sum directly from the amount settled for the claim. 4.2 Domestic Help Mondial Assistance can also provide and pay for domestic help for the insured, in order to help restore the home to habitable state, up to a limit of €229 including tax. 4.3 Call-outs 4.3.1 Emergency call-outs Mondial Assistance operates 24 hours a day to look for and to provide telephone numbers of repair companies within a radius of thirty kilometres of the home, such as plumbers, carpenters, electricians, locksmiths, glaziers, etc. Our service is limited to providing one or more telephone numbers: in no case is Mondial Assistance able to recommend a company or become involved in any issue relating to the quality of the work carried out by the repairer, or relating to the speed of the call-out. !10 ONLY THE CONTRACTS IN FRENCH ARE LEGAL. THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS HAS BEEN TRANSLATED FOR YOUR INFORMATION ONLY. 4.3.2 Breakdown of household electrical appliances In the event of a breakdown of a household electrical appliance, Mondial Assistance arranges for a repairer to call out at the earliest opportunity, to repair the appliance, or to offer a replacement where the breakdown requires a longterm repair. In the case where a repair is not possible, the repairer shall advise the insured over the choice of a new appliance. In no case is Mondial Assistance able to become involved in any issue relating to the quality of the work carried out by the repairer, or relating to the speed of the call-out. All costs are to be paid by the insured. 4.3.3 Broken locks Mondial Assistance arranges for a locksmith to be called out at the earliest opportunity, and pays for this call-out up to a limit of €77 including tax. 4.4 Replacement vehicle If, following damage occurring at the home, the insured’s vehicle which was present there and is damaged or destroyed, Mondial Assistance arranges and pays for the towing and repair charges up to a maximum limit of €122 including tax. Mondial Assistance also provides for the insured, whose damaged vehicle is an unroadworthy condition and requires towing, a category A replacement vehicle for a maximum period of three days. !11 ONLY THE CONTRACTS IN FRENCH ARE LEGAL. Chapter V Physical injury in the home 5.1 Transport to hospital In the event of an accident in the home, in addition to the emergency services that the insured must call as a priority, Mondial Assistance can also provide help and advice: • In providing a doctor (where there is no GP) • In organising transport to hospital by ambulance, with any additional payment to the Social Security Department or any other emergency service • In the return home when the health of the insured allows. 5.2 Childminders and looking after pets following hospitalisation 5.2.1 Child-minding at home Where the insured is responsible for children (and infants) under the age of fifteen years old, Mondial Assistance arranges and pays for a qualified childminder at home for a maximum period of two days. During this period, Mondial Assistance also pays for, where required, return transport to school for the children. Mondial Assistance also offers you the organisation and payment of either: • Travel of the children (or infants) under fifteen years of age to the home of a relative resident in Metropolitan France or Monaco • Or return travel (by train in 1st class, or by air in economy class if this is the only means of transport that can be used) for this relative to the insured’s home in order to look after the children. This service cannot be combined with the previous service. 5.2.2 Looking after pets Where the insured has pets (dogs or cats), Mondial Assistance arranges for them to be looked after at home or at an approved centre and contributes to the costs up to a limit of €229 including tax. As soon as you call, Mondial Assistance does everything it can to meet your request as fast as possible. However, we do need a maximum period of five hours from the opening times of the approved child-minding and pet-minding networks. !12 ONLY THE CONTRACTS IN FRENCH ARE LEGAL. Chapter VI Assistance with everyday life 6.1 Transmission of urgent messages Mondial Assistance arranges to pass on, free of charge, and by the fastest means available, urgent messages that have been sent to the insured who is unable to receive them during a journey or is away, for example in the case of hospitalisation; or any that the insured has to send to any person resident in Metropolitan France or Monaco. Generally, the resending of messages is subject to: • A justified request • A clear and explicit message to be passed on • Precise details of the first name, surname and full address, and where possible, the telephone number, of the person to be contacted. Sending these messages to Mondial Assistance for retransmission is done at the cost of the sender. 6.2 Broken locks and lost keys In the event of loss or theft of keys, or if the locks have been damaged following a break-in, Mondial Assistance arranges for the call-out of a locksmith at the earliest opportunity, and pays for the call-out up to a limit of €77 including tax. 6.3 Breakdown repair/towing a vehicle from the home If the insured’s vehicle is immobilised at home, following a breakdown or an accident, Mondial Assistance arranges for a breakdown repair/tow truck so that the vehicle can be repaired on site or towed to the nearest garage. Mondial Assistance shall not operate in the case where the insured is deliberately in breach of legislation in force in France. The following are also excluded: 1. Suicide attempts 2. Conditions resulting from the use of drugs, non-prescription drugs and alcohol 3. Accidents relating to the practice of a sport as part of an official competition organised by a sporting association and for which a licence has been issued. 4.
