Saskatchewan athletes and coach preparing for 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games
Regina, SK, Sept. 17, 2010 – Saskatchewan is sending 10 athletes and a coach to the 2010 Commonwealth
Games in Delhi, India, Oct. 3 to 14, 2010, including national champions in pole vaulting, diving, lawn bowls,
shooting, and wrestling.
Saskatchewan athletes going to the Commonwealth Games include:

A 2008 Olympian, pole vaulter, Kelsie Hendry (Regina), placed 6th at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor
Championships in Doha, Qatar, and was national champion in 2007, 2008 and 2009;
Diver, Reuben Ross (Pilot Butte), won gold at the 2010 Summer Senior National Championships in 3M
synchro with Alexandre Despatie and silver on 3M individual. He is also a 2008 Olympian;
Veteran lawn bowls competitor, Keith Roney (Regina), is headed for his third straight Commonwealth
Games, having competed in Manchester, England (2002) and Melbourne, Australia (2006);
Richard McBride (Saskatoon) was Canadian Champion in international skeet shooting in 2003 and 2005
and a member of the 2007 Pan American Games Team;
Wrestler, Jillian Gallays, (Saskatoon) of the Saskatoon Wrestling Club is 2010 national champion in the
55 kg division and finished 8th at the world championship in Moscow this month.

tirelessly to represent Canada in Delhi,” said Team Canada Chef de Mission, Martha Deacon. “Saskatchewan
will see great performances from these athletes and should be very proud of their team members. Go Canada

Canada is sending a team of 400 athletes, coaches and support staff to the Commonwealth Games in Delhi and
has a goal of finishing in the Top 3 in the overall medal count.
The Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games will be the world’s largest multi-sport competition this year, drawing

Des athlètes et une entraîneure saskatchewannais se rendront aux Jeux du Commonwealth de Delhi 2010
(Regina, Saskatchewan, le 17 septembre 2010) : La Saskatchewan enverra dix athlètes et une entraîneure aux
Jeux du Commonwealth de Delhi, en Inde, du 3 au 14 octobre 2010, y compris des champions nationaux de saut
à la perche, de plongeon, de boulingrin, de tir et de lutte.
Parmi les athlètes de la Saskatchewan qui se rendront aux Jeux du Commonwealth :

Olympienne en 2008, la sauteuse à la perche Kelsie Hendry (Regina) s’est classée 6e aux Championnats
du monde en salle de l’IAAF de 2010 à Doha, au Qatar et était championne nationale en 2007, 2008 et
2009;
Le plongeur Reuben Ross (Pilot Butte) a remporté l’or aux championnats nationaux senior d’été au 3 m
synchro avec Alexandre Despatie et l’argent au 3 m individuel. Il était également Olympien en 2008;
Le vétéran bouliste Keith Roney (Regina), se dirige vers ses troisièmes Jeux du Commonwealth
consécutifs, ayant pris part aux Jeux de Manchester, en Angleterre (2002) et aux Jeux de Melbourne, en
Australie (2006);
Le tireur Richard McBride (Saskatoon), champion canadien du skeet en 2003 et 2005 et membre de
l’équipe des Jeux panaméricains de 2007; et
La lutteuse Jillian Gallays (Saskatoon) du Saskatoon Wrestling Club, championne canadienne 2010 de la
catégorie de 55 kg qui s’est classée 8e au Championnat du monde à Moscou ce mois-ci.

Le Canada enverra une équipe de 400 athlètes, entraîneurs et personnel de soutien aux Jeux du Commonwealth
à Delhi et vise de terminer parmi les trois premiers pays au total des médailles.
Les Jeux du Commonwealth de Delhi 2010 seront la plus grande compétition multisports de l’année, accueillant
