Configuration/Installation
The 6.1462.080 Dis-Cover robotic arm is designed for swingleft use and therefore should be mounted on tower 2 of the
Sample Processor. The 786 Swing Head must be installed
first.
Before the Dis-Cover is mounted, the settings listed below
have to be made in configuration dialog of the Sample Processor (see Instructions for Use).

After switching off and on again, (with Swing Head, but no
robotic arm) the Dis-Cover can be mounted using the three
enclosed screws. For this the robotic arm must be held in
such a way, that it takes the greatest possible swing angle,
see below.
The connecting cable of the Dis-Cover is led through the
guide chain of the Sample Processor. Connect the plug to the
'ext. Pump' socket at the rear side of the Sample Processor's
tower.

Nach aus- und wieder einschalten des Geräts (mit Swing
Head, aber ohne Schwenkarm) kann der Dis-Cover mit den
drei beiliegenden Schrauben montiert werden. Zur Montage
muss der Schwenkarm so gehalten werden, dass dieser den
grösstmöglichen Schwenkwinkel einnimmt, s. unten.

Functional principle
The head of the Dis-Cover consists of a permanent magnet
and an electromagnet. If it is switched off, then the sample
covers with metallic insert are picked up by the permanent
magnet. To release the sample covers from the Dis-Cover,
the electromagnet must be switched on using the PUMP
command of the Sample Processor. The magnetic field of the
permanent magnet is neutralized by the electric field of the
electromagnet. The sample cover falls off.
Funktionsprinzip
Der Kopf des Dis-Cover besteht aus einem Dauermagneten
und einem Elektromagneten. Im ausgeschaltetem Zustand
werden Gefässdeckel mit Metalleinsatz vom Dauermagneten
angezogen. Um einen Gefässdeckel vom Dis-Cover zu lösen,
wird der Elektromagnet mit dem PUMP-Befehl des Sample
Processors eingeschaltet. Das elektrische Feld des Elektromagnets neutralisiert das Magnetfeld des Dauermagneten.
Der Gefässdeckel wird fallengelassen.
Principe de fonctionnement
La tête du Dis-Cover est composée d'un aimant permanent et
un électro-aimant. Dans l'état hors tension, les couvercles des
récipients avec un empiècement en métal sont attirés par
l'aimant permanent. Pour enlever les couvercles du Dis-Cover
l'électro-aimant est activé par la commande PUMP du Sample
Processor. Le champ électrique de l'électro-aimant neutralise
ainsi le champ magnétique de l'aimant permanent. Le
couvercle est alors laissé tomber.

Attention
The Dis-Cover must not be activated for a longer
period (<3 s). This may cause heating up of the
permanent magnet. Higher temperature may lead to
a gradually decrease of its magnetic force.
Application
To ensure a controlled pick up of the sample covers, the DisCover should be switched on with the PUMP command just
before the sample beaker is approached. The magnetic force
is neutralized.

Switching off the Dis-Cover at the end of the sequence is essential. Otherwise the permanent magnet is heating up too high.

Der Dis-Cover darf nicht zu lange (<3 s) eingeschaltet bleiben, da dies zur Erwärmung des Dauermagneten führt. Hohe Temperaturen führen zu allmählicher Abschwächung des Dauermagneten.
Anwendung
Um ein kontrolliertes Aufnehmen der Gefässdeckel zu gewährleisten, sollte der Dis-Cover unmittelbar vor dem Anfahren des Probengefässes mit einem PUMP-Befehl eingeschaltet werden. Die Magnetwirkung ist somit aufgehoben.

Das Ausschalten des Dis-Cover am Ende der Sequenz darf nicht vergessen werden, da sich sonst
der Dauermagnet zu stark erwärmen könnte.

Le Dis-Cover ne doit pas être mis en marche trop
longtemps (<3 s) pour éviter que l'aimant permanent
ne s'échauffe trop fortement. Les températures
hautes affaiblissent l'aimant permanent à la longue.
Application
Pour garantir un enlèvement contrôlé des couvercles, le DisCover doit être actionné directement avant le mouvement
vers le récipient d'échantillon avec une commande PUMP.
L'effet magnétique est alors supprimé.
