In fact, the start of the family’s watchmaking history goes back no less than four generations. At the beginning of the 20th century, Louis Schwab settled in Moutier to establish a watchmaking factory. In 1904, he created the well-known SWIZA brand, and quickly became the leading manufacturer of alarm clocks and travelling clocks. Louis Schwab was not only the boss of a watchmaking factory with nearly 400 employees, he was also the father of 15 children. He was a patriarch respected in the region and was living in a beautiful manor house. Just before a Christmas dinner, he died in the age of 60 and left the 15 young children alone. After the founder’s death, not all of them could manage the family firm. That is why one of the daughters encouraged her husband, Benjamin Boegli, to set up his own company and to establish himself in Grandval, where he would make watch dials for clocks and watches, particularly for the Swiza brand. His son Jacques succeeded him and developed the business by supplying dials throughout the world. After a few years, Jacques Boegli decided to go back to his roots and to manufacture complete watches like his grand-father did. He launched his first collection of typical Swiss watches with flowers in 1991 under the brand name “B-Watch”. In 1993, as the collection became more classical, he changed the brand to “Jacques du Manoir” but kept the “B” on top of the brand in memory of the first collection. The brand was born… It is now around 20 years since the first “Jacques du Manoir” watch has been made. The collection with more than 400 wristwatches and 200 pocket watches offers a choice for everyone. Every year more than 50 new models are created. Since 2003, the brand is managed by his son, François Boegli, the great grand-child of Louis Schwab. He really wants to carry on what his Great grand-father used to make : good quality Swiss watches affordable for everyone. At the beginning, the brand was distributed only in Switzerland. Since a few years, the developing of an international distribution has become the target for François Boegli. You can find now “Jacques du Manoir” watches in other European countries, in America or in the Middle East and even on board of several famous airlines. One of the goals for the brand is to give the proof all around the world, that it is possible to get a Swiss Made watch without spending a lot of money.
