To give a training to young girls
The problem of insertion after formation.
Description du micro projet : The Bamenda women's empowerment center (BWEC) is a center of the Ministry of women's
affair involved in the formation, he sensitisation, the réinsertion of women one of its activity in Bamenda is the
renforcement of capacities and reinsertion of graduates. Effectively, many women, despite the formation they can have
are not always able to start an axtivity because they don't have enough funds for it so they prostitute or practise any
other bad activity to gain their life. Knowing this the centre has put a provision of revolving loan scheme to support and
reinsert gradutes. According tothe leaders of the centre, it will help to reduce unemploymen, to reduce prostitution, to
reduce death rate as results of AIDS/HIV , to increase income level and to alleviate poverty.
Since 1999, 5.000.000 have been put yearly for this project with 4.500.000 from the government and 500.000 from
contrbutions of the girls. These girls are formed, trained in catering, hairderession, tailoring, traditional and modern craft
production. After this formation they are able to do something clear. The center has a great lack of catalogues and
texbooks and there is inadequate materials for practical work, inadequate equipmens and machines. There are
technician who form this girl. But actually more than a half of the 20 girls graduated yearly cannot support themselfvzs to
start their own projects.
COMMENTAIRES : This action rich in lesson. First because the centre has pointed out the true problem. Insertion after
formation because affectively, people have been habituated to hear that to solve the problem of unemployment, they
should be formed, but what we notice is that despite the formation, this problem is not always solved. That is why people
working on formation should also work on the policy of insertion after. And in this way, the Bamenda women's
employment center should contact organisations who are interst by this action. First the urban council, and after other
social organisations and finally funds providers.
