Évaluer l'efficacité de la pyriméthamine, associée à l'acide folinique, dans la prévention
primaire de la toxoplasmose cérébrale chez les sujets infectés par le VIH-1. Évaluer les
effets secondaires du traitement.

Essai comparatif en deux groupes parallèles randomisés, en double insu contre placebo.
3 ans pour chaque patient.
Patients ayant une sérologie toxoplasmique positive et des lymphocytes CD4< 200/mm3.
Principal : survenue d'une toxoplasmose cérébrale.
Secondaire : décès ; survenue d'anomalies hématologiques, d'effets secondaires autres
qu'hématologiques ; survenue d'une toxoplasmose de localisation autre que cérébrale ;
survenue d'autres infections opportunistes.

Pyriméthamine ou placebo (50 mg x 3/semaine), per os ; acide folinique
(15 mg x 3/semaine), per os.
