éprouve des sensations nouvelles, on
découvre la Nature. »
STÉPHAN LAMIELLE, ARTISTE DU MINÉRAL
téphan Lamielle est l’homme qui écoutait
le murmure de la montagne. Cet artiste
né est un curieux ayant de fortes affinités
pour l’art traditionnel et le land art. Tout
d’abord peintre aquarelliste et sculpteur sur
argile, il aime à modeler la terre. Passionné
par la Nature, il fait corps avec elle à travers
différentes escapades sportives : ski-alpinisme,
parapente, escalade et surtout randonnées.
Pour Stéphan, ces longs cheminements dans la
montagne sont autant de parcours initiatiques.
Dans cette quête énigmatique, la photographie
numérique opérera en lui un véritable déclic.
Le numérique restitue fidèlement la réalité.
Dès lors, dans son œuvre de photographe, il
s’attachera à représenter la montagne sous un
nouveau regard. À l’intersaison par exemple,

elle offre un visage peu connu. Stéphan
Lamielle cherche des textures, débusque des
détails en observant simplement ce qui est à
ses pieds. Il crée des compositions originales
élaborées sur des jeux de lumières naturelles.
Même si le ciel est nuageux, le temps maussade, dans les sommets élevés, il trouve une
intimité inédite.
À 2 000 ou 3 000 mètres d’altitude, dans cet
autre espace temps, loin du tumulte urbain, il
scrute. Il attend. Stéphan travaille dans le
calme. Il écoute le murmure de la montagne. Il
sent l’instant du déclenchement. Il appuie.
Chaque cliché transmet un peu de ce moment
de sérénité. En écoutant, en s’approchant avec
le cœur, le visiteur sensible pourra entendre la
montagne lui chuchoter ses secrets.

STÉPHAN LAMIELLE, A MINERAL ARTIST
téphan Lamielle is the mountain whisperer.
A born artist, he was first attracted to
traditional art. Starting his career in
watercolours and sculpture, he loves working
and creating using pieces of earth. Passionate
about nature, his body is at one with her
through various sporting activities: skiing,
sailing, Han gliding, climbing and above all,
trekking. For Stéphan, each long escapade
into the mountain is a discovery in itself. In
this enigmatic quest, digital photography will
find its place.
Digital technology faithfully reproduces reality.
From here onwards in his photographic work,
he strives to show the mountain in a new light.
Between seasons, for example, the mountain
offers a little known face. Stéphan Lamielle

looks for textures, full of detail, by simply
observing what surrounds him. He creates
original compositions based around natural
tricks of light. Even if the sky is cloudy and the
weather gloomy, he finds an unexpected intimacy
among the mountain tops.
At 2 000 or 3 000 metres altitude, in this
other time zone, far from the urban tumult, he
watches. He waits. For Stéphan works in total
calm. He listens to the whispers of the mountain.
He feels the moment when it kicks off. He
clicks. Each photograph conveys a small part
of this moment of serenity. By listening, by
coming closer with an open heart, the sensitive
visitor can hear the mountain whisper its
secrets.
