WRONG they are Yeomen wardens : the guards of the Tower of London; this nickname comes from the French buffetiers and also because they used to be paid with beef B-QUESTIONS ANSWER ON A COPY a- Why do the British drive on the left? when people passed each other on the road they should be in the best possible position to use their sword to protect themselves. As most people are right handed they therefore keep to their left then in France things changed with the revolution : the peasants were on the right and the aristocracy took over in their carriages on the left…so after the revolution peasants and aristocracy drove on the right (other explanation is Napoleon was left handed so his army walked on the right + big wagons with people sitting on the left horse so that the driver could use his right arm to lash them so it was logical to drive on the right if you were sitting on the left (to look at the other people’s wheels) No monster wagons in Britain; simple horse so sat in a seat on the wagon b- What are these typically British dishes (=plats)? “Toad in a hole”? “Bangers and mash” ? “black pudding”?
