PRESS RELEASE Members of EPEX SPOT elect new Exchange Council Paris / Leipzig / Bern / Vienna, 21 May 2015 – The Exchange members of the European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT have duly elected a new Exchange Council on 19 May 2015. With the 2015 election, the number of seats was extended from 16 to 23, 22 of which are directly elected by the Exchange members. They now cover five categories. The number of seats per category is determined by the number of members per category and by their traded volume. However, no category is allowed to hold more than half of the elected seats. The representative of TSOs selling Market Coupling Contracts (MCC) is nominated by the relevant TSOs. This representative has a right to vote on topics related to market coupling contracts only. The vote was held electronically. Jean-François Conil-Lacoste, Chairman of the Management Board of EPEX SPOT, expressed his thanks to all members of the previous Exchange Council for the constructive and trustful cooperation during the last three years. “These were eventful years for the power market and EPEX SPOT, and we are happy for having accompanied essential developments such as Price Coupling of North Western Europe and the 15-minute call auction on the German Intraday market”, adds Peter Heydecker, chairman of the Exchange Council for the past three years. At the constitutive meeting on 10 June 2015 in Leipzig the new Exchange Council will elect the chairman and the vice-chairmen. It will also decide on the appointment of several permanent guests. The Exchange Council of EPEX SPOT is an official body of the Exchange. It represents adequately the diversity of economic and corporate profiles that exist among the Exchange members from various sectors: producers, power trading companies, transmission system operators (TSOs), regional suppliers and financial service providers, as well as commercial consumers and academics. Its missions include in particular the adoption of the Exchange Rules and the Code of Conduct of EPEX SPOT and their amendments. The Exchange Council approves new trading POWER FOR TODAY. POWER FOR TOMORROW. systems as well as new contracts or market areas and approves the appointment of the Head of the Market Surveillance Office. It meets up quarterly. The Exchange Council can also take a public position whenever a change in the design of the European power market could have an impact on the Exchange or on its capacity to choose, develop, maintain and constantly enhance its trading platforms. In this respect, the Exchange Council defends the necessary elements of competition in a non-discriminative manner which will guarantee innovation and efficiency among the trading platforms to the benefit of all EPEX SPOT Exchange members. The European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT SE operates the power spot markets for Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland. EPEX SPOT also provides market operation services for the Hungarian Power Exchange HUPX and coupling services between the Czech, the Slovak, the Hungarian and the Romanian markets on behalf of three of the four local Exchanges. Since May 4th 2015, EPEX SPOT has become 100% owner of APX Group including Belpex. APX operates the power spot markets for the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Belgium. Mai 2015 – Die Börsenmitglieder der Europäischen Strombörse EPEX SPOT haben turnusgemäß am 19. Mai 2015 einen neuen Börsenrat gewählt. Mit der Wahl wurde die Anzahl der Sitze von 16 auf 23 erhöht. Dabei werden 22 direkt von den Börsenmitgliedern gewählt. Diese sind neuerdings in fünf Kategorien eingeteilt. Die Anzahl der Sitze wird anhand der Anzahl der Mitglieder und des Handelsvolumens pro Kategorie vergeben. Gleichzeitig kann keine Kategorie mehr als die Hälfte aller Sitze umfassen. Der Vertreter der Übertragungsnetzbetreiber (ÜNB), die Marktkopplungskontrakte verkaufen, werden von den betroffenen ÜNBs nominiert. Ihr Vertreter darf nur zu Themen rund um Marktkopplungskontrakte abstimmen. Der Börsenrat wird dort auch über die Berufung mehrerer permanenter Gäste entscheiden. Der Börsenrat der EPEX SPOT ist ein offizielles Börsenorgan. Er bildet die Vielfalt der Wirtschaftszweige und Unternehmensprofile unter den Börsenmitgliedern angemessen ab: Sie umfassen Stromhandelsunternehmen, Übertragungsnetzbetreiber, Regionalversorger, Broker und Finanzdienstleister sowie gewerbliche Verbraucher und Vertreter der Wissenschaft. Der Börsenrat kann ebenfalls Stellung beziehen, wenn das Design des europäischen Strommarktes Einfluss auf die Börse oder ihren Spielraum nimmt, Handelsplattformen auszuwählen, zu entwickeln und zu verbessern. Der Börsenrat verteidigt den diskriminierungsfreien Wettbewerb, der Innovation und Effizienz der Handelsplattformen zum Wohle der Börsenmitglieder garantiert. Die Europäische Strombörse EPEX SPOT SE betreibt die Strom-Spotmärkte für Deutschland, Frankreich, Österreich und die Schweiz. COMMUNIQUE DE PRESSE Les membres d’EPEX SPOT élisent le nouvel Exchange Council Paris / Leipzig / Berne / Vienne, le 21 mai 2015 – les membres de marché de la Bourse européenne de l’électricité EPEX SPOT ont dûment élu un nouvel Exchange Council le 19 mai 2015. Avec les élections de 2015, le nombre de sièges a été étendu de 16 à 23, dont 22 sont directement élus par les membres de marché. Ils sont actuellement répartis en cinq catégories. Le nombre de sièges est déterminé par le nombre de membres par catégorie et par leur volume traité. Toutefois, aucune catégorie n’est autorisée à détenir plus de la moitié des sièges élus. Le représentant des GRT vendeurs de contrats de couplage de marché (Market Coupling Contracts - MCC) est nommé par les GRT compétents. Celui-ci a le droit de vote uniquement sur des questions liées aux contrats de couplage de marché. Le vote s’est tenu par voie électronique. L’Exchange Council a tout particulièrement pour mission l’adoption des règles de marché et du code de conduite d’EPEX SPOT ainsi que de leurs avenants. Il donne son accord sur les nouveaux systèmes de négociation, de même que les nouveaux contrats ou zones de marché et approuve la nomination du responsable de la surveillance de marché. L’Exchange Council d’EPEX SPOT se réunit tous les trimestres. L’Exchange Council peut également prendre position publiquement à chaque fois qu’un changement dans le design du marché de l’électricité européen a un impact sur la bourse ou sur sa capacité à choisir, développer, maintenir ou continuer à améliorer ses plateformes de négociation. A cet égard, l’Exchange Council défend de manière non discriminatoire tout élément de concurrence nécessaire à garantir le caractère innovant et l’efficacité des plateformes de négociation au bénéfice de tous les membres d’EPEX SPOT. La Bourse Européenne de l’Électricité EPEX SPOT SE gère les marchés électriques au comptant pour la France, l’Allemagne, l’Autriche et la Suisse. EPEX SPOT opère les marchés de la bourse hongroise HUPX en tant que prestataire de service, et gère le couplage des marchés entre la République Tchèque, la Slovaquie, la Hongrie et la Roumanie pour le compte de trois des quatre bourses locales.
