R15 REPORT PRESENTED AT THE AGM
IN SEATTLE JUNE 10
(excerpts)
I am happy to report the constant growth in
the membership of our region, which has
almost doubled over the last year thanks to
the support of a very dynamic and dedicated
executive committee.
In 2009, we held monthly get-togethers:
breakfast, Happy Hours, executive meetings at
different venues within our region, which
attracted members and guests in good numbers. These events
have become a major recruiting tool.
Gerald Deseve leaves his post as V-P EAST
I would like to thank all of the
people who gave me their trust
through the years as Region 15
founder and also to all members of
the National Executive who always
supported me as IPA Canada Vice–
President East. I would like to
thank especially Reverend Charles Wright, founder of
IPA Canada, who has been a great support during
these extraordinary years.
A successful golf outing took place in September, attended by
more people than the previous years and five new members
joined IPA.
J’aimerais remercier toutes les personnes qui m’ont
Last October, 46 members and guests visited US Region 2
New York City. We thank them for their warm hospitality and
friendship.

Along with R7 members we hosted to dinner Secretary
General, Larry Sheppard and wife Judy who also visited
Quebec City later on.

AGM IN SEATTLE, A GREAT SUCCESS
On June 10, 2010, IPA Canada held its Annual General Meeting in Seattle,
Washington, simultaneously with that of IPA USA. Twenty Canadian
delegates and their spouse of the various Regions attended the event.
Presentation of the two country’s flags preceded the opening of the AGM
followed by speeches from President Bob Killen (USA) and President Phil
Bailey (Canada) who greeted the delegates and extended their best wishes.
Upon our arrival at Seattle-Tacoma Airport, a welcome committee from US
Region 24 warmly greeted the delegates. Our thanks and appreciation go to
Geoffrey Gretchman, his lovely wife and his team, for their friendship and the
activity programme: boat ride and dinner at Tillicum Village, Seattle visit,
Boeing Aviation Museum, Mount Rainier and the Alaska cruise.
Seattle is the largest city in America’s Pacific Northwest. Its official
nickname is the Emerald City, alluding to the lush evergreen trees
surrounding the city. The Port of Seattle is a major economic engine
specializing in transpacific commerce. It is also a great industrial centre with
a population of 602,000. Founded in the middle of the 19th century, the city
was named after Chief Seattle, of the Duwamish and Suquamish native tribes.
The Space Needle is major landmark of the Pacific Northwest region of the
United States and a symbol of Seattle. It was built for the 1962 World’s
Fair and features an observation deck at 520 feet/160m, and a gift shop
with the rotating SkyCity restaurant at 500 feet/152m.
